what does gin taste like?

I don't drink but used to in my wild youth.

I'm curious about the obsession of gin. but have never had one.
does it take like other spirits?

Honestly just imagining the taste of gin makes me feel a bit nauseous.

It tastes of sun filled lime scented summer afternoons by a slow moving river, with the sound of leather hitting willow in the back ground.

Or it tastes of winter evenings, with the smell of hot buttered toast and Gentleman's Relish melting.
Or it tastes of illicit lunches, with the sparkle of ice and a drift of bitters, the crisp rustle of napkins and clink of cutlery, and the smell of herbs and black butter sauce.
