Just got the building certificate signed off on our holiday home in Cumbria. Now need to find a name!

Both DH and I want to call it after something in the vicinity so the name fits the area. Its on a hill, called Knob Hill, just outside Cockermouth. He said Lavender House, but there is no lavender up here its too cold. I like Church House as we are adjacent to the local church but there is one of those already.

There are no yew trees, but we are at the end of the church which is opposite to the altar. That's the end where there is a tower and where the bells are. So, we are at the end of the church where there are bells and we are struggling to find a name that is in keeping with Knob Hill, Cockermouth, Cumbria. Can one of you wise Mumsnetter's help me find a name please. TIA

Grin I love this post and there's sure to be some naivety to the name you seem to be suggesting.

In all seriousness, is the rest of your address for real?!!

To add to this, my friend currently lives on 3 cocks lane. Yep.

FlibbertyGiblets · 17/09/2018 20:42

Church View Cottage

Hopefields House

ecclesia house (latin for church)

fidem house (faith house)

sorry, they aren't great suggestions- i'm half asleep already!

I will see how it looks

Bell End
Knob Hill
Cockermouth
Cumbria

I suppose it kind of works, but isn't Bell End slang for penis?

I've just googled this place and it's real :)

Cockermouth is the birth place of William Wordsworth. I would use "Wordsworth Cottage" op.

At the moment DH is sold on naming it after our vicar, Howard. We might call it Howard's End.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 17/09/2018 20:52

Ive got a new dog. It’s a cross between a bulldog and a shitzu. What should I call it?

ButtermilkBiscuits · 17/09/2018 20:53

Twattington Cottage

Saggital · 17/09/2018 20:54

OMG, oh frickin hell. I just got it.

The county we live in is called 'CUM'-bria. That's really rude.

How about "Smegma Cottage"?

Sounds nice with the rest of it.

You made me smile though op!

JustinSider · 17/09/2018 20:57

Saggital you can't call it Bell End.

We are up the bottom end of Knob Hill and we name everything in a similar vein.
