Zoe Ball to takeover from Chris Evans (Radio 2 Breakfast Show)

Either my brain is not yet functioning properly (I blame The Cold), or I just heard Chris Evans say Zoe Ball is taking over the Breakfast Show.

Argh!

That's both ends of the day I won't be listening.

I'm sure Zoe is a lovely lass, but gosh she doesn't half whitter on at a million miles an hour saying nothing. Sara Cox would've been far better.

The 'new Drivetime' is still shit. I only have it on if I've forgotten what time of day it is. So blinking droney. JW is trying, it's not her fault she doesn't suit the time slot, but it's all far too trying.

After being a pretty much life long Radio 2 listener I'm off to poke around the radio stations.

I heard that, but I think it was Chris asking Fat Boy Slim if he could comment if the rumour was true.....
I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC didn't tell him who his successor was as he's such a blubbermouth.....

Chris Evans is a twit, but when he's not being twittish his intelligence is obvious and one can actually understand what he's saying.

I wanted Sara Cox too....

I like Zoe and I'm sure I'll get used to her, but I like Sara's voice more and she makes me laugh.

Hi Whiley needs to do one, she's killed drivetime. Sara Cox annoys me massively, professional northener*. Zoe Ball is ok. I'd like Ken to do all morning then Vanessa Feltz to replace Jeremy Vine, bit of Paul O'Grady in the afternoon then Simon without Jo at Drivetime.

Also they should sack Richard Madeley and Elaine Paige.

  • I'm possibly just annoyed by that cos she's from the wrong side of the Pennines.

I like Zoe Ball. Love her on strictly ITT and love her on the radio. She doesn't speak any quicker than lots of male DJs and I have no issue understanding her. I'd listen again for her.

They’d both be great. Both have breakfast show experience. I think Zoe Ball is slightly more likely.

But, as a 38 year old I refuse to listen to either until they stop playing music for old people. Really old people.

I've changed to radio one now after being a radio 2 listener for years and years
It's needs a massive overhaul

I like Sara cox too
And Paul ogrady
And Simon without jo

The rest of them can do one

Zoe Ball is great, I heard her by chance coverings moon a few weeks ago. She had real empathy and was a great interviewer, I was surprised as I thought she would be weak. It wasn't all about her. With Sarah Cox it always seems to be all about her, I usually turn over as I don't really like the music she plays and she isn't a great interviewer.

I no longer listen to drivetime. Bands during the commute is a rubbish concept. They need to keep a good mix.

I thought Simon Mayo had thrown his hat in the ring? Don't like drivetime any more with 2 presenters - so unnecessary! It would have been nice to have him on in the mornings. Now I'm down to Ken Bruce, Jeremy Vine, and Steve Wright. I quite like Vanessa Feltz but she's on a bit too early in the morning for me zzzzzz

I hope it’s Coxy. But I don’t mind Zoe either really.
What really needs addressing is the currently awful drive time slot. Jo is fine, Simon is ok, but together it’s horrendous.
