Full Sugar Coke

I don’t drink much, but when I do it’s bevause I want the sugar hit.

Are they trying to phase it out? With the increasing red on the Coke Zero (Coke with Zero sugar?) it feels like it. I can hardly ever find it in the shop (in the pre-packed sandwich bit).

I know, sugar is the root of all evil yada yada, but I hate the taste of sweetners.

I shall be quiet now 👍

Love a 'Classic' full fat coke!
I hadn't realised tasting sweeteners is a gene. They clearly get the wrong people to try drinks when they're being formulated then otherwise we'd all be tellung them how bad it is.

QuestionableMouse · 17/09/2018 01:28

I really hope they don't change it because it's one of the only things that shifts a migraine when I get one. A can or Rockstar does the same thing but I'd rather not drink energy drinks if I have any other options.

LostPlatypus · 17/09/2018 01:42

It's the only soft drink I buy now everything else has sweeteners in. It doesn't seem to be any harder to get hold of where I live thankfully as I'm another one who swears by it for getting rid of migraines (I do need actual medication sometimes too but given the frequency of my migraines, the more I can get rid of without meds the better).

Jamie Oliver should be strung up, he's ruined most of the soft drinks on the market. Lucozade Original is disgusting now, so are Fanta, 7Up & don't start me on cordial. I've been raiding Farm Foods for all their trays of the pre sugar tax stock.

Lazypoolday · 17/09/2018 02:15

You can't beat an ice cold coke classic occasionally. I'd much rather have the full sugar stuff than chemically sweetened shite that tastes disgusting and has god knows what health effects.

I was in the UK this summer and did notice it was near impossible to find something sweetener free that wasn't coke, even stuff that isn't labelled as diet or sugar free like Sprite or fanta has them. Yuck

Violetroselily · 17/09/2018 06:31

I've not had a problem finding it in shops just yet, but as you say, there's a lot of red on the coke zero cans now 🤔

I like coke zero but nothing beats a chilled can of normal coke 🤤

purpleme12 · 17/09/2018 07:00

I'm glad I found this thread. Everyone I know is not bothered! It really annoys me as well all of this.

I tried lucozade the other day. I have it as a treat very occasionally but when I love it when I have it. And it's completely changed! It's not even with buying!! That REALLY annoyed me. My whole life I've loved lucozade treat. We'd have it as a treat when we were little when we were poorly. And now it's awful!

I hate how they change everything!

theunsure · 17/09/2018 07:04

I’ve only found it hard to get in Tesco Express who sell little bottles in the meal deal sandwich section.
Nowhere else it is hard to find here. I use it for migraine, so always have some in car, home, office etc.
If they ever stop making it I’ll cry.

sandgrown · 17/09/2018 07:08

When I was small Lucozade was a treat when were ill. It's totally ruined now! I don't drink many fizzy drinks but love a "real" can of Coke. Sweeteners make me feel ill and I am happy to pay extra. I can make my own informed choices !

LEMtheoriginal · 17/09/2018 07:14

What is the difference between coke zero and diet coke?

BusterGonad · 17/09/2018 07:16

Lem are they made with different types of sweetener? Like one stevia (sp?) and one aspartame??? I'm guessing, so I could be wrong!

megletthesecond · 17/09/2018 07:17

I only drink red Coke. Maybe once or twice a month.

But last time we went to a pub I swear I was served diet coke. It tasted fake, even the dc's pulled a face. Next time I'm going to double check.

gobbin · 17/09/2018 07:18

What is the difference between coke zero and diet coke

It was my understanding from a radio prog ages ago that Coke Zero is branded to specifically target men (don’t shoot the messenger!) Other than that, it’s exactly the same as Diet.

LEMtheoriginal · 17/09/2018 07:18

Not sure. I can't abide diet coke and coke zero is meh. Ive looked at the ingredients and iirc the sweeteners are the same Confused

BusterGonad · 17/09/2018 07:26

I've just googled, Diet Coke has a lighter taste, Coke Zero is made to taste the same as classic and has a different acid and a different sweetener. So zero is full bodied and diet is lighter!

SimplySteve · 17/09/2018 07:33

Bengal - whaaaaa? Pepsi Max Ginger is amazing!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 17/09/2018 08:00

We tend to drink appletizer or fizzy water in this house.

RockinHippy · 17/09/2018 08:03

Sweeteners are vile. Worse than the sugar imo

This with bells on, they also make some people very ill, myself & daughter included. DD will react as if she has bad food poisoning with just a mouthful of the diet stuff. Unfortunately thanks to the fecking sugar taxHmm, it's getting harder & harder to find drinks without fake sugars. Coke is one of the few treats my daughter can now safely have Angry

RockinHippy · 17/09/2018 08:05

& why did they stop with Coke Life, the green one. That had natural sweeteners & was really lovely. DD preferred it to normal coke. I liked it too & I don't particularly like coke as it's too sweet for me

Aph413 · 17/09/2018 08:10

Has anyone noticed regular coke in McDonald's tasting funny? I swear it tastes diet even when I've seen them press the regular button. It's driving me mad as I can't stand diet stuff

IJustLostTheGame · 17/09/2018 08:17

YES RockinHippy I loved coke life, coke zero doesn't come close to it. I don't know why they stopped it.
Irn Bru is my hangover drink. I have 50 cans of proper irn bru hidden about the house, I stocked up before the tax came in.
The new irn bru has the vilest aftertaste and doesn't do the job.

And Lucozade used to be the one perk to having the flu.

DappledThings · 17/09/2018 09:28

Just wondering .geniunely..why do people call it "full fat"..when its sugar based..

I say "full fat" for lots of things that are the proper version rather than a lesser alternative. So full fat coffee is caffeinated. Full fat beer is an alcoholic one etc. It's a slightly rubbish joke/shortcut.

MadisonAvenue · 17/09/2018 09:35

The red Coke Zero was being well promoted in Birmingham city centre yesterday, with mini cans being given away along with a voucher for a free bottle. It's not bad, but then I've never enjoyed full fat Coke.

Someone mentioned Coco Pops earlier, haven't tried those recently but Sugar Puffs have been wrecked. I threw the box out after one serving.

QuestionableMouse · 17/09/2018 09:36

@Aph413 the syrup hasn't changed, I promise. I don't think it tastes any different. If you get one that does it probably means that either the syrup needs checking or you've been given something else.

scaryteacher · 17/09/2018 09:44

Rockin The green coke, which is great, has been stopped in the UK, but we can still get it in Belgium, as we can full fat coke. No sugar tax here - yay!!
