Have you switched to a winter duvet yet?

Gonna strip the bed later as I usually do on a Sunday. I'm thinking of making the switchover from the summer duvets to the winter duvets. Has anyone else done this yet?

No but I have my thermal Jim-jams on.

LongSummerDays · 16/09/2018 07:15

Oh yes. Tis bliss. Grin

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 16/09/2018 07:16

Yep I did last night after being cold the night before. Spent most of the night tossing and turning as too hot!

No! It was 22 degrees here yesterday! Lovely SE England

Sweetiedarlingletmein · 16/09/2018 07:18

Yes switched back about a week ago

firehousedog1 · 16/09/2018 07:18

It is getting nippy isn't it. But yes I don't want to turn the bed into a sauna.

I don't have a winter duvet. Just one which I use all year round. If I get too hot I stick my feet out, or just sleep under a sheet. If it's really cold I just put a blanket on top.

AtiaoftheJulii · 16/09/2018 07:20

No, but I keep thinking about it ....

DinosApple · 16/09/2018 07:21

We've got two king-sized duvets on the bed. Ones thin in a cotton cover, the other is thick with a teddy bear fleece cover.

I've been under the fleecy one for around a week. Seriously the best purchase of last winter.

onlyconnect · 16/09/2018 07:22

I'm going to do it today

firehousedog1 · 16/09/2018 07:22

What's a teddy bear fleece even?

lljkk · 16/09/2018 07:24

I have 3 duvets, sometimes a thicker one in winter, and adjust layers as needed. I don't understand how a single duvet can do the job.

Lostandfound81 · 16/09/2018 07:25

Anyone heard about the weighted blankets? Gravity blankets I think they’re called.

Any good?

firehousedog1 · 16/09/2018 07:32

Not heard of gravity blankets either.

Yes I don't know how one duvet can do the job either. I mean this alone we've had freezing cold periods of snow in the winter and then a heatwave.

DerelictWreck · 16/09/2018 07:39

Lord no I'm still in my 4 tog and spent most of last night wrapped around it, not under it! Winter duvets (and the heating) come into use on Nov 1st in this house!

Delatron · 16/09/2018 07:47

God no. I have a quilt type thing that goes over existing duvet if needed but rarely cold at night. No heating on overnight and never wear pjs even in winter!

donkeysandzebras · 16/09/2018 07:48

No but I've had my hot water bottle for about a week now.

Redglitter · 16/09/2018 07:49

My winter duvet is 4 togs
Too early to change into it yet 😊

firehousedog1 · 16/09/2018 07:53

Ooh good call donkey I forgot about the hot water bottle. I might test the boundaries with my hot water tonight first before making the big leap to the winter duvet.

I have a 3-way combo - 4.5 for Summer, 9 for Autumn/Spring, clip both together for Winter. Works well for me, switched to the 9 last weekend.
I have a wool cellular blanket I supplement with in a cold snap, and an electric blanket I use from mid October, hot water bottle if necessary before that. My house is very old and my bedroom can get very cold!

TowerRingInferno · 16/09/2018 08:10

Autumn/spring 9 tog duvets here. We will move on to the 13.5 tog in late October. Old, cold house.

llangennith · 16/09/2018 08:40

Winter duvet three weeks ago.

someonekillbabyshark · 16/09/2018 08:42

We still have the fan on LOL! But we have solar panels in our roof above our bedroom and it keeps the heat

Meet0nTheIedge · 16/09/2018 08:46

No, we've got the three way combi too, but have never used both together, we won't get the 9 tog one out unless there's a really cold snap, the 4 is enough some winters.

Cachailleacha · 16/09/2018 08:46

No, just have a 7.5 tog year round. Thinking of getting a lighter one for summer, but then arms and legs out works fine most nights. House is well insulated.
