Have you switched to a winter duvet yet?

Gonna strip the bed later as I usually do on a Sunday. I'm thinking of making the switchover from the summer duvets to the winter duvets. Has anyone else done this yet?

Electric blanket back on last week and wool duvet winter version. We’re both sleeping better,...had fire on last night too...

Arrowfanatic · 16/09/2018 08:48

Not yet, temperatures are still in the high teens/low twenties here so the 4 tog we have is still fine. Kids just have empty duvet covers though so thinking about putting theirs back on.

Flipflop789 · 16/09/2018 08:49

I have a 10.5 through the year till November 1st then its 15 tog😁.

Need 10.5 one for DS today and a mattress topper so of to Dunelm later.

FTFF · 16/09/2018 12:25

No but I had fluffy sock and a hot water bottle a few nights ago, just back from holiday so was adjusting!

I normally switch mid November DH hates the winter duvet whereas I'm always cold. Last year has the best sleep with the 15tog duvet folded in half over me, the 10tog duvet over that and fluffy socks and a hot water bottle it was amazing!

bigbluebus · 16/09/2018 13:00

I put the 10.5 tog on last week.

No ‘D’H is still too hot with the summer one (he’s not dear to me on this issue!). I have a blanket on my side. I can’t wait until he relents and I get my lovely snuggly goose down one back Grin DC3 has a winter one on her bed and I’m jealous Hmm

ParkheadParadise · 16/09/2018 13:04

I've never had my 15 tog duvet off.
Heating has also been on for weeks.

DonnaDarko · 16/09/2018 13:12

We never have one as DP always gets too hot. So I usually have thick pyjamas on or have a throw on my side of the bed.

I did put on the heating this morning though!

MadisonAvenue · 16/09/2018 13:18

10.5 all year here.

NanTheWiser · 16/09/2018 13:22

I'll be changing mine on Wednesday when I change the bedding. But I'm old, and feel the cold these days.

stargirl1701 · 16/09/2018 13:23

No. We bought a new bed which is bigger than the last so bought a new wool duvet. It is meant to be toasty in the winter & cool in the summer. So far, so good.

TheThirdOfHerName · 16/09/2018 13:25

God no. It's 17 or 18 degrees in our room at night. We're still on the 4.5 tog duvet.

Will probably change to the 10 tog one at some point before the end of October.

I do use both duvets together in winter when the temperature in our room goes down to 10 degrees at night.

Sarcelle · 16/09/2018 13:26

We have two duvets both 4.5 togs. They are both same weight but one is back up when the other one is washed. We have tried a heavier duvet but had to ditch, it felt heavy and suffocating. We never add blankets, the only nod to colder times is that the covers get changed to cosy brushed cotton.

Hoozz · 16/09/2018 13:43

Treated myself to a wool duvet recently as they are supposed to stop you overheating.

I have two single duvets on our bed so DH can have a warmer one than me. I was a bit cool two nights ago so swapped my 4 tog for the new wool duvet. It was cosy when I got in but soon felt like a sauna. The thin one is now back on for tonightGrin

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2018 13:43

Nope. Since my first pregnancy across winter 2012, I've never been cold enough for the autumn or winter duvets! It's odd, as I was always so cold before having DC.

Hoozz · 16/09/2018 13:45

Marmite27 I recommend two single duvets. I did this when I started the menopause and it works very well. Looks messy though.

Havaina · 16/09/2018 14:06

God no! I just switched from a top sheet only to a 4 tog duvet and even that was too warm (im in the south).

I won't get the 10 tog duvet until we're in the throes of December.

Storm4star · 16/09/2018 14:16

Winter duvet??? I’m still putting on my air con at night!

IsadoraQuagmire · 16/09/2018 14:22

I use a 15 tog duvet all year round, I hate being cold.

Crinkle77 · 16/09/2018 14:33

Yep I did a couple of weeks ago. I love it cos it feather and it's big and fluffy.

Sweetheart1313 · 16/09/2018 16:10

Yep, mine went on last weekend, along with my electric blanket!

happymummy12345 · 16/09/2018 16:17

We don't have separate ones.. do most people??

ElspethFlashman · 16/09/2018 16:22

We have two all year round (that type that are two different togs stuck together - you're supposed to detach one in the summer but we never do) and last week put another one on.

So we have 3 duvets! It's amazing, it's like sleeping in a warm bath.

But then we live in a cold part of the world and I also feel the cold.

dinosaurkisses · 16/09/2018 16:23

DH swapped them for me last night as a surprise (we are very dull people) as I’d been moaning about the bed not holding the heat when I get up with dd in the middle of the night.

I bought a 10.5 tog feather duvet in the M&S sale in January and it’s really upped my bedding game. Can’t wait until November when it’s acceptable to whip out the electric blanket.
