3.30 am and I am watching Ben and Holly with DS. He has inexplicably decided that after some months of sleeping 7-7 he would like to get up in the middle of the night Confused

So what are you all doing up SmileBrew

Up with DS still trying to work through his constipation 😩 meanwhile the dog seemed to think I was willing him on to poo and has covered my lounge for the first time since he was a puppy. It’s a long shitty night over here (literally)

ragged · 14/09/2018 03:41

Oh dear re the dog. I feel a bit gutted for you! And lucky not to have anything bad that woke me up.

I am a life long insomniac. I will try to listen to some podcasts & hope to sleep again soon after 5. Am very lucky I can sleep in "tomorrow"

Nicknacky · 14/09/2018 03:42

Got in from late shift about 90 mins ago and not sleepy yet. Unlike you ladies I have peace and a wine!

Woke up after a weird dream and trying to settle down again. Any podcasts you'd recommend ragged?

CanadianJohn · 14/09/2018 03:45

It's only 10.45 here, but I am a night-hawk. I rarely go to bed before 2.00 am, unfortunately.

BuntyII · 14/09/2018 03:46

Oh no constipation and dog poo is not a nice way to spend 3-4am 😩

Suddenly remembered upcoming school event for which I have not yet prepared. Then nervous rash began to itch as did bite on ankle. Then remembered had not destroyed letter from bank which had details on it. Then cat wanted fed. An hour later, all dealt with, bar school thing but have left post it note to remind me.
Back in bed starting to feel pleasantly tired again, need to be up in 2 hours though!

Crankywitch · 14/09/2018 03:48

I'm awake! Just woke up with a start and composed a good long email to my kids school about a crappy meeting I had yesterday. I haven't sent it but will send in morning. I'm gonna read now, feeling a bit more peaceful since I got that letter off my chest

ragged · 14/09/2018 03:48

I like politics & a specific sport, Buttery, so probably my recommendations aren't worth much to you! There must be science ones & good fiction & comedy programmes, too. I have a macbook so iTunes.

dontticklethetoad · 14/09/2018 03:50

I am working (young adults with autism). I usually don't have much to do once everyone's in bed but it has been a very difficult night, that has resulted in a broken pair of glasses, split dental retainer and a fat lip (all mine).
I have had better nights. I think I would rather take my chances with constipation and dog poo Sad

Butterymuffin · 14/09/2018 03:50

I like politics!

Butterymuffin · 14/09/2018 03:51

Bad luck toad. Hope it's not too painful.

TeddyIsaHe · 14/09/2018 03:55

Dd woke me up at 2, she went straight back to sleep, I’m wide awake. I have to be up at 5:30 for work. It’s going to be a long day!

lork · 14/09/2018 03:58

I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I have had back problems and this was all niggling a bit. Was then awake long enough to be hungry so got up and made porridge and tea. Have just been watching Friday Night dinner on E4 which has cheered me up. I should go and get back into bed and try to get a bit more sleep.

ragged · 14/09/2018 04:00

Ah, well there's always repeats of the R4 World At One. Pienaar's politics and Marr on Sunday. Robert Peston does a great show but I don't know where to find it. The Guardian has a politics podcast.

I like financial journalism, too, see what Wake-up-to-Money 5Live, Financial times & The Economist have, too.

There were a load of decent Brexit podcasts going but nobody (R5Live, Guardian, etc.) have restarted the Leave ones & I can't stomach the Delingpole stuff for long.

Expand to American politics if you REALLY want soap opera. CNN or NPR for balanced coverage and MSNBC for "Oh my god this is insane and we're not afraid to say so". Colbert & The Daily Show for comedy. Mueller She Wrote for expletive-laden conspiracy, Velshi & Ruhle for financial journalism.

RLOU30 · 14/09/2018 04:00

Sorry to hear that toad

ragged · 14/09/2018 04:01

*Not Leave ones, I meant to say restarted the Remain (oriented) ones

Fannyfanakerpants · 14/09/2018 04:02

I'm up with dog poo too. Luckily she cried and I managed to make it to let her in the garden. I might just leave the back door open and try and get another hours sleep.

iwillbemummy · 14/09/2018 04:03

11 month old DS woke but fell straight back to sleep without me needing to see to him. However, now wide awake.

Have been on maternity leave but going back to work for a keeping in touch day tomorrow, therefore alarm set for 5.45. Probably awake because I’m a little nervous about going back and leaving DS for the first time for a whole day Sad

Sorry to hear about you all being up too

HistoriaTrixie · 14/09/2018 04:06

I am, it's only just after 11 where I am. All my dogs are asleep though, as are the cats, and I'm kind of desultorily poking around on the Internet while my husband plays Destiny 2.

crispsahoy · 14/09/2018 04:07

I woke for no reason and now can't sleep for DH breathing! He usually works away so it's strange to have him home. We go on holiday "tomorrow" but not until late so no worry about sleeping in.

ragged · 14/09/2018 04:07

omg, you want something to blow your mind, google Inn at Rodanthe.

Wineandchoccy · 14/09/2018 04:16

Dd woke up because her arm needed scratching she is 3 and has a cast on due to a broken elbow.

I’m in the tiny single bed next to her in a static caravan as we are on holiday, home in the morning though.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 14/09/2018 04:18

in too much pain to sleep so here i am. Stupid body with its stupid incurable disease Sad

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/09/2018 04:30

I had chemo yesterday so I'm pumped full of steroids. Wiiiiiide awake!

Sorry to those having a rubbish night for whatever reason Flowers
