Who's awake and why?

3.30 am and I am watching Ben and Holly with DS. He has inexplicably decided that after some months of sleeping 7-7 he would like to get up in the middle of the night Confused

So what are you all doing up SmileBrew

DS (4 months) needed fed but I'm celebrating. He's usually up every 2 hours but he slept from 730-4! I have a baby and toddler group in the morning, I can't be bothered with it but hey ho. No excuse really. On the plus side: dog is behaving, my mind is clear, no pain or niggles. Hugs to everyone whose had better nights than this.

Marbles321 · 14/09/2018 04:36

Woke up to feed 4 week old ds who then went straight back to sleep but is keeping me up with his newborn grunts and whistles and snuffles and startle reflex antics. If I'm totally honest I'm also worrying about what seems to be an issue with tongue tie and hoping we can resolve it soon. Am using the time to order proper swaddle bags on amazon and snack on cereal. And go on munsnet of course! Sorry for those who have early starts tomorrow.

WonderBoy · 14/09/2018 04:44

Sorry to hear that, OneNight.

I am awake because I am caring for my DS who is severely disabled. He has only just dropped off to sleep. It's usual to be up until about this time. I can't remember the last time I got to sleep before midnight, and 2am or 3am is classed as a good night. A bad night is being awake until 6.30am or even all night. Four hours unbroken sleep is classed as a good night too. My DS is a mid-teen, so life has been like this for a long time now. Before that, I was someone who needed my 8 hours. I still am, but I just don't get it.

Well I've had my few minutes on mumsnet to wind down a bit, so I'd better try to get some sleep now before the school alarm goes off for the rest of the family. Thanks all for the company. The wee small hours can seem quite lonely, and it's been nice to know I'm not the only one up.

Night all. Flowers

My ex has made my anxiety raid it's head. From the essay of an email. In a bad mum, thick and dont listen to him. Sigh. Currently in tears and need to hug my son

WonderBoy · 14/09/2018 04:50

And all the very best to you, WhatWould Flowers

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 14/09/2018 04:55

wonderboy Thanks that sounds very hard. I hope you manage even just a little sleep

whatwould sorry to hear you are so ill. i hope you too manage even a little sleep Thanks

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/09/2018 04:55

Thank you WonderBoy that's very kind. You must be exhausted. I hope you manage to get some sleep before the morning routine begins :)

HowamIgoingtocope Flowers I sincerely doubt that you are a bad mum. Your ex sounds dreadful. Do you have coping techniques for your anxiety? Sending a hug Brew

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/09/2018 04:58

Thanks One but I'm not actually that ill as such, well apart from the whole cancer thing. Thankfully I only have a few days each cycle disrupted by the steroids. I know everyone copes with what they have to, or doesn't, I suppose, but sleep deprivation is so utterly grim. I have huge sympathies for chronic sufferers Flowers

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/09/2018 04:59

ragged I Googled the Inn. Wow! Shock

alwaysstressed · 14/09/2018 05:01

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/09/2018 05:03

Longdistance · 14/09/2018 05:07

I had a lentil Dahl for tea, and it’s made my belly swell and 💨 and the planes have started to take off 🙄

Unsure123123 · 14/09/2018 05:09

Coughing, coughing and erm coughing.

Starlight345 · 14/09/2018 05:11

I am not even sure why I have been awake since 4. I am watching the breakfast club

Longdistance · 14/09/2018 05:12

Oh I love the breakfast club. Might dust my copy off at the weekend when dh isn’t about.

Starlight345 · 14/09/2018 05:15

It’s a good easy watch thought it might send me back to sleep but enjoying it too much 🤣

bella1426 · 14/09/2018 05:17

Up because I'm 8 months pregnant and pretty much not sleeping at all anymore. Particularly bad night as DS climbed into the bed about an hour ago and proceeded to wet it in his sleep so been up scrubbing the mattress and somehow still awake 😭 will need to get up in a couple of hours...

Sarcelle · 14/09/2018 05:24

Also coughing. So tired but constantly coughing.

worknamechanged · 14/09/2018 05:31

I had wisdom teeth removal on Wednesday and woke up in pain from it.

I tend to go in seasons of sleeping really badly and then sleeping well, so it might be that I woke up and then realised it hurt!

Purpleneonpinkunicorns · 14/09/2018 05:40

Because a ex from way back has been in touch for the past few days, and we've just been video chatting for the past 5 hours and have only just got off the phone, think I need a strong coffee to process it all.

SomebodysNotInBedYet · 14/09/2018 05:52

Another who's child is the culprit! Dd is 2 and woke up at 3.30am begging for cereal. Tried taking her back to bed afterwards but she was still awake after nearly an hour of lying still so I gave up and we're watching Peppa. I said no to baby shark.

Flatwhite32 · 14/09/2018 05:53

Me. Trying to cope (and failing miserably) with my 7 week old daughter who, over the past few days, has developed awful eczema on her face and won't leave it alone.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/09/2018 07:46

Flatwhite poor baby and poor you. My sister had lots of skin problems as a baby. She used to have sleepsuits with foldover mitts on the sleeves, so she couldn't pull them off like normal scratch mitts. I imagine they must still make them as they were very useful. Sorry if you've already thought of that. I hope you both got some sleep Flowers

I hope everyone who was in pain or feeling unwell is feeling a bit better this morning Flowers

ragged · 14/09/2018 15:48

I fell asleep about 4:45 & slept until 11am (!). > 10 hours last night. Once a year. Bliss.
