I heard scratching in my bedroom

It woke me up. I was confused and thought the dog had got upstairs.
It was coming from behind the chest of drawers SadConfused
Woke DP up (who was asleep in spare room)
He's checked and can't find anything there... lying here in terror now.
I'm either going mad and hearing things
Or there's a creature behind my chest of drawers.
Ah oh Confused

Anyone awake?

OP posts:
dontticklethetoad · 14/09/2018 01:42

I suspect it's a spider. Sorry.

FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 01:54

It's far too loud.
DP just heard it too so now he believes me

He's pulling everything out now. I'm hiding downstairs with the dog

FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 01:55

Just thank goodness I'm not having auditory hallucinations

esk1mo · 14/09/2018 01:55

maybe a mouse behind the wall?

BlackBeltInChildWrangling · 14/09/2018 01:58

A butterfly or large moth can sound like scratching, especially on wooden drawers at night....

BigChocFrenzy · 14/09/2018 02:00

yup. mouse or small rat
A nuisance, but not dangerous
Try not to worry; your dog will snap the little pest's neck if it comes near you

BlackBeltInChildWrangling · 14/09/2018 02:02

Or is the spare room on the adjoining wall where the drawers are? If you've banished him, DP could be scratching to be let in...

FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 02:09

Ha! So there's still nothing there but little bits of torn up paper under where the chest of drawers was.
Dear god. So a mouse in my room. How the hell did it get up there? 😰😰😰

FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 02:11

I'm just about the worst person this could be happening to.
I'm a total wimp when it comes to this sort of thing.
But still relieved I wasn't hearing things.

BitOfFun · 14/09/2018 02:14

How loud was it? Could be a rat.

FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 02:25

Ummm.... really loud!

OP posts:
FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 02:26

Anyway, whatever it was it's gone...

but where?

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 14/09/2018 02:30

God, they can hide in the tiniest places. Believe me, I sympathise- I heard scratching in the back room where I do my sewing and opened the door to see a FUCKING RAT. Slammed door shut and locked it, made DP put a trap in there and didn't venture in for a week. Tasty peanut butter trap was untouched.

Fuck knows where it went.

NCPuffin · 14/09/2018 02:33

Just as I was reading this PuffinCat started to scratch at our bedroom door Confused(she's been banned due to the imminent arrival of DC1)

BitOfFun · 14/09/2018 02:35
Grin
FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 02:38

FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 02:39

Lying awake now waiting to hear any more noises. DP here now...

OP posts:
Montybabe · 14/09/2018 02:46

Gotta be a mouse in the walls. Put some bait down tomorrow. Might take a few days to go though.

Seniorschoolmum · 14/09/2018 02:57

Do you have an old house? I have and the mice get into the roof and then from there into the cavity walls.
It’s starting to get cold so it’s looking for a winter nest. If it worries you, put a humane trap in your loft.

BuntyII · 14/09/2018 03:35

Are you totally sure it wasn't a ghost or perhaps a little monster?

FrameyMcFrame · 14/09/2018 07:25

No! Monster or ghost is a definite possibility
It's all gone quiet now. I wish my dog was the kind of dog who sniffs out things. He is just rolling around like an idiot on my bed rather than finding the mouse. But he is a great comfort

Thanks for the moral support last night!

They come in this time of the year for winter.

What you don't want it them staying all winter and then having babies in the spring.
