Spelling pedantic here Grin

Browsing through FB last night and noticed a new spelling for perhaps....

“Prahaps”

Any other corkers?

This irrationally infuriated me

ALemonyPea · 13/09/2018 06:32

Oh all the time. I did see someone comment on a friends status it’s their uniquely spelt DC names a few months ago and it’s still annoyed me. They removed the ER ending of the names and added AH instead.

throughtheeyeofaneedle · 13/09/2018 06:34

Prolly instead of probably - it causes me some kind on internal rage!

throughtheeyeofaneedle · 13/09/2018 06:35

Of not on!

AnarchyKitty · 13/09/2018 06:37

Gorjus instead of gorgeous. My friend who has been a University lecturer for 30 years uses it all the time. He should know better!Angry

Sirzy · 13/09/2018 06:38

Wiv drives me mad!

I nofmally try to give benefit of the doubt with spelling related things but things like wiv where no adult can possibly think that is the right spelling irrationally annoy me!

SydneyCarton · 13/09/2018 06:40

Not really spelling, but “Inbox me (hun)” makes me irrationally angry

hoppipopla · 13/09/2018 06:42

My sister does all of these on fb and it enrages me. We went to the same schools, had the same teachers why hasn't this sunk in?!

Defiantly instead of definitely.
Gawjus/gorj
Confusion around where/were/we're/there/their/they're

There are many more but I'm getting the rage just typing those. I have to spend a little while rereading posts to have them make sense!

Donthugmeimscared · 13/09/2018 06:49

On the selling part "lovely Chester draws"

needtogiveitablow · 13/09/2018 06:51

Carnt
Blaintently (blatently)
Defiantly drives me up the wall but this may be autocorrect for a badly spelled definitely?

My all time favourite was someone selling a Bow-k of flowers Hmm

HeckinGoodDoggo · 13/09/2018 06:51

Use in place of used. Breathe instead of breath.

Easynow · 13/09/2018 06:52

For me its the half sentences that make me cry.

"Got a new top"

"Went to the pub"

"Saw something weird"

I. I. I .I .

I saw

I went

I got

Easynow · 13/09/2018 06:53

Im not on FB actually. I hate it.

I have been 3 years clean.

blueskiespls · 13/09/2018 08:06

Starting sentences with 'So...'

elQuintoConyo · 13/09/2018 08:12

"I'm so tierd".

Like a wedding cake, cousin?

Iolaus84 · 13/09/2018 08:20

Loose instead of lose.

MadisonAvenue · 13/09/2018 08:26

Gawjus annoys the hell out of me.

Rediculous is a spelling error which pisses me off Angry

Half sentences, usually when commenting on a photo, like “Beautiful family” or “stunning eyebrows hun”.

Things like “So...this happened”

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 13/09/2018 08:36

All of the above!
I understand that text speak is, apparently, obligatory, but I dislike ‘ur’. It’s so clumsy.

villainousbroodmare · 13/09/2018 08:38

Mom's. Dad's. Baby's. For fucking plurals.

I saw a long, well-written FB post recently by an acquaintance who went to an excellent school and has a degree. She reads widely and expresses herself very well. She did this throughout. I think she also threw in the reverse error: 'my babies clothes'. I am mystified.

I do think that there may be some horrendous misconception out there that when you pluralise a word that ends in a vowel, you add an apostrophe: e.g. idea's. Fuck knows.

Anyway, it's very irritating. And strange; in this era of abbreviations, why would you add superfluous punctuation? Where does it come from?

Mulberry72 · 13/09/2018 08:41

Gawjus - Gorgeous
Av - Have
He’s - His

These pop up regularly in a Whatsapp group I’m in, and they make my teeth itch! Confused

ProfessorMoody · 13/09/2018 08:43

This has been going on a while, but I absolutely hate "Imma" instead of "I'm going to".

"Imma get me a coffee on the way"

Fuck off!!!

ColinsVeryJolly · 13/09/2018 08:45

Been instead of being seems to crop up a lot.

Drives me round the bend.

RottenApple · 13/09/2018 08:47

When people type "women" when they mean "woman"

And the whole bought/brought thing. I don't understand how people don't get the difference.

ChilliPowderMild · 13/09/2018 08:59

"blatently"

Oops-a-daisy. I suppose it was very early.

CrochetBelle · 13/09/2018 09:02

When people say 'are' instead of 'our'.
