Spelling pedantic here Grin

Browsing through FB last night and noticed a new spelling for perhaps....

“Prahaps”

Any other corkers?

One that I've noticed on here as well as FB is alot instead of a lot. My phone just corrected it three times so I'm not sure how people get it so wrong.

The worst one I have seen is 'jaw carriageway'.

NatashaRomanov · 13/09/2018 10:24

Devine instead of divine.
Gives me irrational rage.

MirandaWest · 13/09/2018 10:25

Aloud instead of allowed annoys me

cherrytree63 · 13/09/2018 10:36

Sank or sunk instead of something, summat is slightly less annoying.

thegreatbeyond · 13/09/2018 10:41

When people are DISCUSTED.

IDontIdentifyAsAWomanIAmAWoman · 13/09/2018 10:42

'I'm bias' instead of biased. Just stop it

elQuintoConyo · 13/09/2018 13:24

Discusted and fumming crack me up Grin

The others are awful, but I'm an English teacher and these will always annoy me.

Bechetdiagnosed · 13/09/2018 13:46

Another one that riles me is the use of “what” rather than “that”.

E.g. “Is that everything what you want?”

Alot. Aswell.

RAAAAARRRRRRRR!

ShotsFired · 13/09/2018 13:51

"need it gone" / "needs gone"

on selling pages. Just hate it.

Dwellington · 13/09/2018 13:52

Brought instead of bought makes me want to boil my head.

“Brought myself a new top.”

Brought it where? Home from the shop I suppose?!

Hallouminati · 13/09/2018 14:01

Date for your diary's - a date for my diary's what?

Dident instead of didn't

I literally died laughing - really? Yet here you are, burning my eyes

Should of instead of should have

' I text him' instead of 'I texted him' (I admit that one is quite pedantic but it infuriates me that it's become standard English)

wowfudge · 13/09/2018 14:01

Who's instead of whose is one I've spotted today. Facebook selling pages are full of clangers - people who can't spell just make it up instead of checking first.

PuppyMonkey · 13/09/2018 14:05

As instead of has is one that seems to be creeping in near me.

"XXXX as been on a lovely day out."

"XXXXX as eaten a whole box of Quality Street."

MaMisled · 13/09/2018 14:07

Off instead of of.

A vague relative just posted "can't be arsd wiv the lot off you "

FissionChips · 13/09/2018 14:07

Wont instead of want
Carnt instead of can’t
Are instead of our
Brought instead of bought
Ickkle instead of little

Cosmos45 · 13/09/2018 14:14

I had to unfriend someone on FB because the continued use of the word exited instead of excited. They seemed to be exited quite a lot as well...

FrogPie · 13/09/2018 14:50

I've seen 'cum' instead of 'come' used plenty and it makes me shrivel up a bit inside

StormyLovesOdd · 13/09/2018 15:00

I can go one better, my 10 year old purposely pronounces words wrong all the time like fabulous is fabroolus (plus she says it with a fake American accent usually) it drives me INSANE, I'm constantly correcting her, she does it because she thinks is sounds cute !!

I blame Sam & Cat and bloody Ariana Grande

ALemonyPea · 13/09/2018 15:00

I hate it when friends type exactly how they speak IRL, so in regional dialect (Geordie), A instead of I really pisses me off. How hard is it to actually just put the I, it’ll make you look less thick.

9amtrain · 13/09/2018 15:01

Defiantly. [santa]

Prahaps? What the fuck is that?

Ohyesiam · 13/09/2018 15:15

The thing that I see a lot on here is
“ hence why” as in “ hence why I asked him to sort it out”.
Argh. That’s why or hence, not an amalgamation of them both.

LongSummerDays · 13/09/2018 16:40

I used to work with someone who would say "whenabouts did you do that?"

I had to refrain from stapling her head to the wall.

elQuintoConyo · 13/09/2018 17:20

I have been using this expression for the past couple of months, since i was it printed on a bag. Only between the felliw pedants i shared it with!

elQuintoConyo · 13/09/2018 17:22

Tits...
