How much do you pay for childcare?

Sorry, I've started a good few threads regarding childcare the past couple of days, however this is important to me so here goes...

How much do you pay for childcare per week? I'm trying to work out what's doable, what's normal, and what I can expect... thoughts anyone?

Thanks in advance!

SharkSave · 07/09/2018 08:06

£1050 per month for M-F 7.30-5.30. Includes food but not nappies or wipes

Samanabanana · 07/09/2018 08:10

One child. £196/week (Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm). Includes meals and snacks but not nappies.

FlipperSkipper · 07/09/2018 08:10

£42 a day, including food but not nappies.

DigitalGhost · 07/09/2018 08:16

£34 a day. 3 meals a day, including snacks. Doesn't include nappies but includes wipes.
Nursery hours are 7.30-6.00
With tax free childcare it works out less than £30 a day.

happypotamus · 07/09/2018 08:59

£56.50 a day for nursery x 3 days for DD2 (less now that she is eligible for 30 free hours, but I am not sure exactly how much as it comes directly out of DH's salary and this is her first month with 30 free hours). This is a discounted rate, as the nursery is linked to DH's place of work and so he gets a discount. Nursery is open 7.45am-6pm, cost is the same for babies, toddlers and pre-school unless you are entitled to free hours. It includes food but you provide your own nappies and wipes etc.
£20 a half-term for breakfast club at school for DD1 plus some money for the food she eats there. I give her £2 each day she goes but she doesn't spend it all. How often she goes varies depending on my shifts etc, but it is £20 regardless of how often you use it.
After-school club for DD1 is over £90 a month for 2 afternoons a week.

balalalala · 07/09/2018 09:04

£290 a week, m-f, 8am-6pm. Includes everything for my 2 year old. Amazingly compared to all the previous posters, seems to be the cheapest in our area too! Still works out about £850 a month even when her 30 free hours are applied next year.

SnowBambino · 07/09/2018 09:12

We’ve just signed up to a nursery that is £1400 per month full time, all inclusive, which is three meals per day and covers 7.30am - 6.30pm. It works out to £65 per day and is probably among the most expensive in our area. A cheaper one that I also liked (£52 per day) already had a waiting list for September 2019 some months back.

The price range in our area (Midlands) seems to be £50-£65 per day from the ten or so nurseries I looked at or researched.

blinkineckmum · 07/09/2018 09:18

I am on mat leave and just moved house so all change but in the past.
I worked 3 days term time only.
Childminder charged per 1/2 hour, provided lunch. £4.50 per hour for under 2s and £4 for over 2s. I had one of each.
So £8.50 per hour x 24 hours a week x 39 weeks = close to £8k per year or £700 per month.
But with the 15 free hours take off £2300 so £5700pa or £475pm.
Then tax free, so less.

Lauren83 · 07/09/2018 09:21

£52 a day including food but not nappies. Near Manchester

Piper100 · 07/09/2018 09:23

We’re £52.50/day that’s for one snack and lunch. N.E Scotland

Piper100 · 07/09/2018 09:24

..and for a 4 year old. Younger kids are more expensive. I think 0-2 is £58/day nappies and milk not supplied!

LadyDuplo · 07/09/2018 09:24

C£950 a month. 3 days a week 8-6.

All nappies, meals etc included.

SE.

2nd child there so I've "got used" to the expense.

BumbleeBeeMe · 07/09/2018 09:42

We pay £125 a week for 5 hours a day. We don't pay if our CM is on holiday but we do pay if we are.
We don't get food or nappies included and its cheap for our local area Smile

Madeline18 · 07/09/2018 09:45

180 a week, including food but not nappies or formula.

Waitingonasmiley42 · 07/09/2018 09:45

£4 an hour child one and £3 an hour child two (after nursery). £188 a week!

FemaleDilbert · 07/09/2018 09:47

About £45 per day per child (nursery). Includes all food, wipes, nappies etc...

welshweasel · 07/09/2018 09:47

£200 a week for 2 year old in full time Nursery (8-6) including all meals.

Momotheathlete · 07/09/2018 09:49

£1,200 per month, 8 - 6, five days a week. No milk or nappies included. In Surrey, so a very cheap nursery for this area

GoodbyeSummer · 07/09/2018 09:51

£67 per week mon-thurs breakfast club and after school childminder for 2 children term time only.

ems137 · 07/09/2018 09:52

Wow I'm so shocked by how much some nurseries cost! I thought ours was expensive at £39 per day. There is no way that I could afford to work if a nursery cost £60 a day (I have 2 nursery age)

GoodbyeSummer · 07/09/2018 09:53

Sorry, I miscounted. £100 per week mon-thurs breakfast club and after school childminder, term time only.
