Fascinating request for slipper suggestions!

PutItAwayDear · 06/09/2018 08:28

My feet are cold from September to May. I live in a cold draughty house with stone floors so I need some proper slippers!

They need to be really really warm, have a decent sole (so I can nip onto the patio to gran washing in for example) but the sole needs to NOT be Crocs material as it's sweaty and lethally slippery on wet floors!

Any ideas?

I was going to suggest Crocs! I've never had an issue with slipping. I have a summer pair, spring/autumn and a fleece lined for winter. I wear socks with them so don't get the sweaty problem.

So, if not Crocs, can you get a comfy pair of slip-on shoes and keep them for indoors? Do they have to be "slippers"?

A pair of those pull-on fur-lined slipper-boots, like Uggs (real Uggs, if you can afford them).

Ugg slippers. They're the mutt's nuts. Not the boot type, the slide your foot in type. Best thing I've bought in the last two years.

JLbaby · 06/09/2018 10:14

Do the ugg slippers stay fluffy inside? I bought some Just Sheepskin (which weren't cheap) last year and the fluff inside has already gone all flat and hard....am considering investing in some uggs, but don't want the same thing to happen as uggs are pretty expensive!

BlueUggs · 06/09/2018 10:17

Uggs all the way

LBOCS2 · 06/09/2018 10:18

They do over the toes but not underfoot so much because obviously you're standing on it. It still has some 'spring' in it though.

tharsheblows · 06/09/2018 10:20

I use these as indoor slippers which are still good if I need to nip outside.

They last a very long time (years and years) for as much as I wear them. I work from home so that's all day every day for most of the year.

Newjobnewstart · 06/09/2018 10:20

Yup uggs I got mine two years ago and still going strong

PutItAwayDear · 07/09/2018 06:57

Eeep I don't think I can stretch to Uggs unfortunately :( I'll try sharking some on eBay and hope for the best though.

I had some Ugg-a-like ones from Moshulu which looked amazing (purple with woolly bobbles) but the croc rubber type soles went to something like polished ice really fast. I think it's due to our stone floors, slippers seem to wear out super quickly! Maybe I can persuade someone to buy me Uggs for Christmas....

I buy plastic sole slippers by lunar or sometimes Clark's have them.

My floor is shiney ceramic tile and the house is cold anyhow. Obviously anything is slippy on a wet floor with a shiney surface so I just avoid wet bits.

MrsPnut · 07/09/2018 07:04

I have these slippers and I have had them for nearly three years. Super warm and a sturdy sole for nipping out to the garden in. I’m asking for a replacement pair for Christmas this year.

MadisonMontgomery · 07/09/2018 07:06

I looooove Uggs - I have the moccasin type & the slide on type. Both super warm, comfy, and have a proper sole so you can wear them outside.

SilverHairedCat · 07/09/2018 07:07

Uggs. Just don't buy them in lilac. Buy mistake. Mine look awful and they are a year old.

LongSummerDays · 07/09/2018 07:56

Uggs mules. Love them.

caoraich · 07/09/2018 08:00

These! m.ellis-brigham.com/products/the-north-face-mens-thermoball-nse-tent-mule-3/206197

Totally love them. No reason they're "mens". Wear them inside and out in garden and have never slipped on our tiled (and very cold) floor!

PawneeToday · 07/09/2018 08:04

Homeys. The ONLY slippers worth having! Proper good sole on them, so comfy, look decent and not too expensive.

cortex10 · 07/09/2018 08:07

Definitely Uggs slip ons

SuperDuperJezebel · 07/09/2018 08:10

@jlbaby I bought some sheepskin insoles for mine when they went like that, and replace them every 2y or so, I'm sure they were less than a fiver on Amazon.

WrongKindOfFace · 07/09/2018 08:11

At the cheaper end I’ve had some super fluffy boot ones with a proper sole from monsoon. I got them in the sale but think they were about £25 full price.

Thebluedog · 07/09/2018 08:13

I bought these last year, brilliant and warm with a hard sole. But I don’t normally have smelly feet, and after a while they did smell Hmm

WrongKindOfFace · 07/09/2018 08:13

Totes also do slipper boots with a rubber sole.

OzymandiasFanClub · 07/09/2018 08:16

Celtic & Co sheepskin slippers. Particularly the ones that come up over your ankles. Lots of colours and "can be worn outside when necessary".

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/09/2018 08:26

If you buy uggs don't get knock off ones, they are sometimes made with dogs skinned alive in china.

Amazon do a synthetic version of uggs that get good reviews.

You can buy replacement sheepskin innersoles. If your under a size 6 try kids versions. No VAT then.

maitaimojito · 07/09/2018 08:29

If you’ve got an Ugg outlet shop near you they’re £50 rather than £80. I wouldn’t have paid £80 but can almost justify £50 if they’re going to last as long as others say they do.
