Fascinating request for slipper suggestions!

My feet are cold from September to May. I live in a cold draughty house with stone floors so I need some proper slippers!

They need to be really really warm, have a decent sole (so I can nip onto the patio to gran washing in for example) but the sole needs to NOT be Crocs material as it's sweaty and lethally slippery on wet floors!

Any ideas?

I have Haflinger ones. They are quite expensive but my last pair lasted several years so worked out better value than cheaper slippers which I kept having to replace. They have a proper sole so are perfect for going outside and they are also good for my cold kitchen floor. I combine them with thick socks when it is cold.

Lands End do great moccasin type slippers. Cosy and warm, great colours, OK for outside

TheFairyCaravan · 07/09/2018 08:36

DH has the North Face ones. They’ve lasted really, really well. He’s had them 2 years and I reckon he’ll get another Winter out of them.

I get these from Next. I usually buy a new pair each year because I spill things on them but they’re not worn out and they don’t smell.

I was going to suggest crocs, I work in an old house with stone and tile floors and I find them really comfy and not at all slippery. A couple of years ago someone bought me some Uggs slippers, they were lovely and warm but after a while the leather sole went really shiny and dangerously slippery, I binned them after I slipped over on a wet floor.

Rainatnight · 07/09/2018 08:40

Another vote for Mahabis here. I know they're a bit spendy but mine have lasted for ages and they're so comfy and cosy. I'm away in my parents' house at the moment cos my dad is dying and I don't have my slippers and I feel bereft!

TheCag · 07/09/2018 08:40

I highly recommend Haflinger. They are clog style, felted wool with a solid sole. They really mold to your foot shape, mine are a few months old (worn daily) and look like new.

Rainatnight · 07/09/2018 08:46

Haflinger wearers - they looks as though they might feel sort of hard? Do they, or are they cosy?

VelociraptorRex · 07/09/2018 08:47

@Rainatnight sorry to hear that Thanks

I'm after new slippers too - can you wash sheepskin ones though? Or do you just have to replace them when they get grubby? I'm a SAHM and wear mine a lot on our freezing floors!

Defender90 · 07/09/2018 08:49

I got a pair of Gimbies and they are lasting fab I'm out to the bins or bringing washing in all the time in them.

Jellybeanduck · 07/09/2018 09:21

These?

Thistles24 · 07/09/2018 09:27

I have homeys and LOVE them!! About £30 I think, but I won’t buy another brand of slipper again (unless I can stretch to Uggs!)

lynmilne65 · 07/09/2018 09:34

£40 for slippers????Confused

cameltoeflappyflapflap · 07/09/2018 09:37

Ugg slipper are the best. They have a new pair out but they're £100. Well worth the money imo

TinselAngel · 07/09/2018 09:48

Another vote for Celtic and Co. the sheepskin ones I buy cost £65 IIRC, but last a good two to three years. I'm on my third identical pair.

MaryBoBary · 07/09/2018 10:05

I’ve got these mule slippers from next, I absolutely love them. They are so warm and cosy with quite a solid sole. So much so that I regularly have to go back indoors on my way shopping because I’ve forgotten to take them off and put shoes on! And they are only £20. With hindsight I’d have chosen a different colour as my pink ones are looking quite grubby. But there are quite a few colours to choose from.

I've got furry crocs. They are brilliant. Bright pink. But that's not a helpful comment because you've already said you don't want them. Sorry.

Oldraver · 07/09/2018 10:10

Get the slippers you want and are suitable for indoor and have a pair of cheap Croc style by the back door. If you get a size or two bigger you can leave your slippers on and pop them into the Crocs

ChuChuUa · 07/09/2018 10:13

I like Isotoner ones from Amazon.

Knittingmamma · 07/09/2018 10:14

Try Nordikas. Proper sole and lovely and warm. Go for one that goes right round your foot, not a mule type as that can leave your ankle chilly.

Floralnomad · 07/09/2018 10:16

I’ve got some furry slipper boots that were £10 in the sale at Next , they are excellent and are into the second year of wear but at that price it doesn’t really matter .

Fooferella · 07/09/2018 10:17

I get a pair of these from dh every Christmas now. They are warm, but not sweat inducing, they have cushioning underfoot and a non-slip sole. I wear these more than I wear any other footwear and I love them. You can usually get deals on amazon for them. They are the wonder that is Camper Wabi.

BellMcEnd · 07/09/2018 10:19

I’ve got these from Sketchers which were recommended on here! They’re lovely a g cosy. I’ve had them 2 years and they’re still great. They were about £30 iirc. If you’re an NHS employee you can get a discount in Sketchers stores.

Can Ugg slippers be washed? Probably a stupid question..........

KnittingSister · 07/09/2018 22:08

Celtic slippers again! And yes they can be washed on a wool wash Smile

Ringsender2 · 07/09/2018 22:48

These are my faves - keep the ankle warm as well, which makes a big difference. But they're a lot pricier than I remembered. Mine lasted 3-4 years. www.celticandco.com/sheepskin-slippers/womens-slippers/knitted-shortie-slippers
