How tidy is your house?

Just that really!

Is your house always tidy (guest ready) or do you have a mad panic to get it all done before guests arrive?

I feel like all I ever do is tidy and mine is never guest ready Grin

Mine is tidy all the time because I can't stand things out of place. I also have a bit of OCD and know I'm over the top by washing my skirting boards and cupboard fronts every other day.
First baby due in December and I've been told my attitude to cleaning will change!

Butterymuffin · 04/09/2018 23:53

Mad panic.

JynxaSmoochum · 05/09/2018 00:04

Currently tidier than usual and not even for a guest! It deteriorated so much over the holidays that I actually felt an urge to tidy and clean before term starts.

Normally it's only tidy for guests... except some close friends because we're honest enough that we don't have time/ motivation to live like that permanently. Grin

Iwantaunicorn · 05/09/2018 00:06

Panic tidy here! I did have a magical few weeks where it was guest ready permanently, then my DTs started teething and weaning and it’s all gone to hell in a handbag 🤪

PickAChew · 05/09/2018 00:13

We're slowly tarting it up and need to get some replastering done now we're starting on downstairs and have a lot of stuff packed away in boxes. Consequently, it's a bit of a shit tip.

Ds2's bedroom is usually spotless, since he decided to move all his shite into our bedroom, which we only moved into at the start of the holidays. I keep chucking it back into his room, but it just comes back. He was a bit miffed when we moved furniture into his space!

Always tidy, guest ready. I've always liked to know where everything is, and I like to tidy as I go. To me it makes more sense than living in a mess, never knowing where anything is and having a mad panic every time the doorbell rings.

Katedotness1963 · 05/09/2018 05:40

Always tidy, I can't stand mess.

SilentHeadphones · 05/09/2018 05:44

Always messy. Can't stand it.

DinosApple · 05/09/2018 05:49

Rarely tidy, never guest ready, mad panic usually. Sometimes it really gets to me, sometimes I can ignore it.

We suffer from a case of too much stuff, one hoarder and not much time. The hoarding one has OCD tendencies, but they don't manifest themselves in a cleaning or tidying obsession.

motortroll · 05/09/2018 06:02

Always messy. I hate tidying up because it's not me that put it all there!! It is clean at least I just can't walk through the lounge from about 1 hour after I've tidied until the next time!!

sanityisamyth · 05/09/2018 06:03

Spotless as had estate agents taking photos of it yesterday to sell it. Feel like I've been living in a show home since April and getting sick of it!! Not easy with a 4 year old and a horse!!

Adversecamber22 · 05/09/2018 07:52

Almost always guest ready.

recluse · 05/09/2018 08:05

Messy Sad. Worse now as we are decorating various rooms and everything is all over the place. My aim is a decluttered and peaceful home.

Juanbablo · 05/09/2018 08:06

Pretty tidy. We moved in 18 months ago and have basically been decorating and renovating ever since so there's always the odd tin of paint or box of crap hanging around but it's basically pretty presentable. I had a bit of a tantrum the other day because the living room and kitchen had got so messy with the kids being home all day so I blitzed them and made everyone return their things to their rightful places and now peace has been restored in my brain!

Yogagirl123 · 05/09/2018 08:08

Mostly tidy, guest ready, but depends on what guest is arriving, could be a last minute panic!

SavageBeauty73 · 05/09/2018 08:09

Tidy. I'm a naturally really messy person so I have to work hard at fighting my messy ways. I can't stand a messy kitchen so that's always the first thing I do.

Licketysplits · 05/09/2018 08:10

sanityisamyth I have visions of your horse with his feet up on the sofa making a mess with his hay!

rudehealth · 05/09/2018 08:11

Always guest ready
Couldn’t live happily otherwise

BillywigSting · 05/09/2018 08:11

I thought mine was reasonably tidy but we're moving soon and in getting it ready for surveyors /veiwing etc have realised it's actually a complete midden.

We have too much stuff and not enough space.

Xmasfairy86 · 05/09/2018 08:13

Depends on the guest 😂😂

It’s livable. But I’d like it tidier. I’m getting there, I’d love to live without clutter but we just have too much stuff. I’d also like the other 3 members of my house to take part in tidying.

CountFosco · 05/09/2018 08:13

We've just move house and now have a playroom. Our sitting room is now alway guest ready. Bliss!

TeenTimesTwo · 05/09/2018 08:16

Depends how tidy you think guests need it. Grin

90% of the time it is tidy enough . But clutter builds up. When it gets too messy I have a blitz.

I would say our house is messier than most of my friends, because we keep things 'out' that are used a lot rather than putting things hidden away in cupboards.

Not tidy enough for 'I must make a very good impression' guests, but tidy enough for friends. (Must be OK, as we didn't do extra tidying for social workers and they still let us adopt!).

serbska · 05/09/2018 08:16

Always tidy. Except my bedroom, which usually has clean clothes messey because I hate putting away clothes.

SoyDora · 05/09/2018 08:17

It would probably take me 10 mins to get ready for a guest (stack dishwasher with dishes from breakfast, quick wipe of kitchen surfaces, put away the toys the DC have got out this morning).

MaryBoBary · 05/09/2018 08:19

Somewhere in between the 2 for us. I’m a SAHP to a 2 year old so do have time to clean and tidy every day, but with a toddler, dog, cat and 3 chickens who sneak in whenever they can my floor always needs hoovering! We have an in built bookshelf which is a bit of a dumping ground but apart from that I’m usually fairly guest ready. Upstairs is a different story though with my washing and ironing everywhere!
