Looking at getting tickets for the Arctic Monkeys but only 2 together at reasonable price are in standing,

Will I get covered in thrown pint glasses full of wee!!?!

Don't know what the crowd are like and I've heard some horror stories...

I did when I saw them but that was a few years ago now. Bleurgh.

MeganChips · 02/09/2018 22:08

Possibly! I did at Radiohead.

weekfour · 02/09/2018 22:10

Only time that has ever happened to me was at an Arctic Monkeys gig.

Although I did get hit with a half eaten apple at Queens of the Stoneage.

You don't have to stand near the front.

Yes you will, I did at Finsbury Park a few years ago.

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 02/09/2018 22:11

What? Is this a thing? Why??

Cocolepew · 02/09/2018 22:12

Wear a gagoule.
Me and DD both got soaked with piss at Muse.

DownWentTheFlag · 02/09/2018 22:13

No wee but I was nearly crushed standing at the front of an Arctic Monkeys gig.

Stephisaur · 02/09/2018 22:14

I have never once been soaked in piss in the standing bit at a gig.

I’ve been near the front, in the middle and towards the back and just... never!

WrongKindOfFace · 02/09/2018 22:15

This sort of behaviour puts me off ever going to any gig ever again.

When did this sort of shit start? People never used to behave like this.

Lucked · 02/09/2018 22:15

When did this become a thing?

MrsChollySawcutt · 02/09/2018 22:17

What? Is this a thing now? I spent my late teens/ early twenties going to gigs and never experienced this!

Revolting!

Toptrumploser · 02/09/2018 22:18

Yes. Take an old cagoule!

Toptrumploser · 02/09/2018 22:18

It’s been going on for years. Revolting

weekfour · 02/09/2018 22:21

When it happened to me, I didn't realise it was piss until I got in the car to drive home and the car heating warmed it up. My whole car stink of piss.

DieAntword · 02/09/2018 22:25

....ew? Why.... what is wrong with people???

nahthenmardybum · 02/09/2018 22:25

Nah you’ll be fine at an arena gig, this tends to happen at outdoor venues or festivals I find. 😊

CheekyRedhead · 02/09/2018 22:27

Saw them in July. There was a bit of piss. It's not exclusive to monkeys though tbh. Happens a lot at gigs. Obviously it's dirty boys who are too lazy to go the toilet Hmm

HRTpatch · 02/09/2018 22:28

Happens at Courteeners gigs too

CustardOmlet · 02/09/2018 22:28

Never been covered in piss but did get kicked in the head with a foot ball at the park last week.

LEMtheoriginal · 02/09/2018 22:29

Wtat the fuck? Hmm

VickieCherry · 02/09/2018 22:29

What?! I also spent my youth going to gigs, usually at the front. Now go less frequently but still quite often (and stand further back). I've only ever seen piss thrown at festivals, never arena gigs!

SneakyGremlins · 02/09/2018 22:30

Can someone please explain this?

MoonlightMedicine · 02/09/2018 22:30

This happened to me at a blur gig at Hyde park. Totally ruined it for me and it still disgusts me now. I hope you don’t get covered in piss OP!!

HemanOrSheRa · 02/09/2018 22:31

Sheesh. Dirty bastards. I went to a festival back at the start of summer - the worst thing that happened was some people pushed their way to the front then turned their backs to the stage, chatting and taking selfies. We all tutted and gave them evils like good British people do. None of this piss throwing.

obviousNC101 · 02/09/2018 22:34

To those asking for explanations - it's lazy men and boys who drink at gigs and yet cant be bothered to go to the toilet or don't want to lose their place at the front of the standing area by the stage - they piss in a bottle then lob in backwards at the rest of the crowd. It's been going on for years and until all gigs have seating or smaller predetermined standing areas so people Don't fight over the spots closest to the barriers and the stage it will continue.

I always think it doesn't help that bands tend to engage with those at the front a lot in their "touchy feely crowd" sections of the show as it encourages people to want to stay where they are. I spent many a gig in my youth having to push my way back through some
Very aggressive people just to get back to my friends after having a wee!
