Have just been sorting out my bedding cupboard
I started the putting a whole bedding set in one pillowcase last year and it is SO much easier when changing all the beds

Also sprinkling bicarbonate over wiffy mattresses and hoovering up later on

And of course ZOFLORA Flowers

which tips have you tried and tested on recommendation from other MNers

The one for reviving a quilted jacket after it’s been in the washing machine. Into a tumble dryer with tennis balls, it worked a treat.

TheGoddessFrigg · 01/09/2018 11:15

Combing conditioner through your hair. It makes a huge difference.

hmmwhatatodo · 01/09/2018 11:22

Yes, the bedding in one pillowcase trick. Tried zoflora and got it again recently but can’t see what all the fuss is about.

StripesandWings · 01/09/2018 11:31

That sounds amazing! Going to start doing the pillow case thing.

HandOff · 01/09/2018 11:32

Combing conditioner through your hair. It makes a huge difference.

In what way does it help? And how much?

iklboo · 01/09/2018 11:34

Another bedding / pillowcase convert here. I was thinking WHY haven't I been doing this all my adult life?? Much easier to store too.

Bobbiepin · 01/09/2018 11:35

Need more on the conditioner thing when it's wet? When its dry? Do you wash it out?

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/09/2018 11:35

Soda crystals on a hot wash to freshen up the washing machine.

Pealing off the backing sticker for small DC.

An amazing daal recipe that someone shared and I’ve since passed on.

Several book recommendations that have been amazing.

Had loads of help and advice on temping for ttc.

“Catching children being good” not unique to MN but well and simply put and I now do it all the time.

Have a Tupperware type box in your freezer and every time you have left over veg ,or tinned tomatoes or baked beans etc. put them in . When your box is full add stock and boil then liquidise for a simple vegetable soup .

LittleCandle · 01/09/2018 11:42

Using soap in the shower, for pits, not just shower gel. I have noticed a big change in the amount of sweating, especially considering I work in a hot environment and have hot flushes. My heels are no longer cracked since starting using soap, although I know it isn't the same for everyone.

Yes to the putting bedding into pillowcases. Zoflora has been a staple of my entire life - it is fab!

Oliphantintheroom · 01/09/2018 12:05

Can you share the daal recipe please?

Oliphantintheroom · 01/09/2018 12:07

I think the thing with Zoflora is that it’s versatile
I use it in the machine for towels and bedding, as a kitchen/bathroom spray, floor cleaner, as a febrreze type spray on sofas/rugs/curtains/radiators

Love the veg soup plan! Yes to the pillowcase trick. Other MN tips I have used :-

Double line cot/Pram/bed etc for little ones - waterproof sheet, top sheet, waterproof sheet and top sheet again - if baby sick etc just peel off the top sheet and waterproof and no washing and remaking bed in the night.

Bins inside the house (controversial I know Wink) put in a roll of bin liners at the bottom when you whip out the full one you have the roll there ready to line again.

With washing to save drying time do an extra spin cycle at the end - very good for towel washes.

Napisan for baby stains etc - lovely stuff.

Freeze fresh herbs to stop them going off etc brilliant money and time saver.

Aldi shops - don't take lots of carriers a couple of lovely big blue Ikea bags and your done Grin

BarbaraofSevillle · 01/09/2018 12:24

Slice and freeze citrus fruits to use in G&Ts

gerbo · 01/09/2018 12:27

AnnelovesGilbert could you please share the daal recipe? Thanks!

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/09/2018 12:35

www.tinnedtomatoes.com/2013/10/spinach-and-coconut-dal.html?m=1

I use 400g frozen spinach and add a tsp of dried garlic granules.

Also a big fan of frozen lemon and lime for drinks.

Sitranced · 01/09/2018 12:52

Shave up AND down.

Isleepinahedgefund · 01/09/2018 12:59

Bedding in one pillowcase genuinely changed my life!

Another fab one was for holidays - to presoak cotton wool pads with toner, nail polis remover etc and take them on hols instead of the whole bottle.

I’m going to doing the vegetable soup/freezer one! Ends of veg/beans etc always get wasted here.

legocardsagain · 01/09/2018 14:00

To remove mould and discolouration of sealant in bathrooms and showers.

Wear rubber gloves. Get thick bleach and soak a sheet of kitchen roll in bleach. Roll it in to a sausage and place over the sealant. Squash it down so it's fully in contact with all of the sealant. Do the same for the rest of the bath/shower. Leave overnight or for about 8 hours.

Use rubber gloves again to take the kitchen roll off and marvel at your perfectly clean sealant. This also works for all over the bottom of shower trays.

ShoutyMcShoutFace · 01/09/2018 14:06

Talc for de-sanding after the beach.

CAAKE · 01/09/2018 16:33

Pure citric acid for limescale. It's great for most surfaces and brilliant for the loo - sprinkle about 1/2 cup into the bowl, swish it about and leave overnight.

toothtruth · 01/09/2018 16:39

washing up liquid removes sudocrem and play dough from hair!
Biological washing powder scrubbed into carpet will remove the smell and stain of poo and/or wee.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/09/2018 16:40

Double Wear foundation - best foundation I've ever used, and would never have considered it without seeing all of the recs on here.

Liking the slice and freeze lemons and limes suggestion -will definitely try that.
