Have just been sorting out my bedding cupboard
I started the putting a whole bedding set in one pillowcase last year and it is SO much easier when changing all the beds

Also sprinkling bicarbonate over wiffy mattresses and hoovering up later on

And of course ZOFLORA Flowers

which tips have you tried and tested on recommendation from other MNers

I love this thread. I have used the duvet in pillowcase one for years - game changer. Also talc to get sand off, and the sticker one. Really do not get the hoopla with Zoflora though!

Chuck out your yellow dusters and get white ones.
Never again will one accidentally bleed into your clothes.

Car scratch remover wax on scratches on outside of fridges , cooker etc. Gets rid of them perfectly.

Extension lead on holiday with one adapter plug.

@Handoff

Shampooing opens the cuticle layer of your hair, think tiles on a roof, part of conditioners job is the seal the cuticle layer afterwards, I’d yiu comb it through you close the cuticle layer properly resulting in soft smooth hair, if you just whack it on and rinse it off it doesn’t work properly. (I’m a hairdresser)

Colour catcher in the washer machine to stop all clothes gradually going grey.

Not using the quick wash option all the time. The longer cycles seem to keep clothes looking better for longer.

Heated clothes airer.

Moving young DCs dinner bed and bath routine earlier by half an hour. Sounds like nothing but made such a difference!

So many to catch up on!

Isleepinahedgefund what do you put them in?

dementedma you literally pull the backing sticker off the sheet so it's easier for small fingers to pick up the stickers themselves. So you start at a corner and then peel off the whole thing around the shapes of the stickers.

What does the scrunching do TitzillatheHun?

gesu, instead of catching them when they're being bad and ticking them off, try and catch them when they're doing something good, kind, helpful, thoughtful, and praise them.

DSS has been driving us nuts not flushing the loo or turning the light off. Moaning about it wasn't working so when he did remember I'd make a point of saying well done. Also assuming he's done the right thing, rather than assuming he's forgotten works. So "you've flushed and turned the light off haven't you" said with a smile, and then if he hasn't he says "oh, I'll do it now, sorry" rather than "why haven't you done it" and him getting stroppy or defensive.

Yesterday his sister was tired and he gave her his blanket in the car, not for praise, just to be nice. So I said that was kind and thoughtful, thank you.

Sounds really simple and a bit silly but it's changed my mindset and I like them a lot more when I'm purposely looking for examples of how lovely they are rather than dealing with how annoying they can sometimes be Grin

Mmm ,must try this approach with my OH .

What’s the crack with the parafetomal and iron?? Just rub a paracetamol tablet on a cool iron?

Also the baking sheet one? What does that do?

So many mentioned here that I have picked up and do!
For all you the washing tips there was a lady on AMA a few weeks ago who was a laundry detergent developer (or similar) who had loads of good tips for getting the best results while keeping your clothes in good condition.

Not a life hack but a MN one is to change the OPs post colour so you can scroll through and easily find theirs, makes it so much easier to comment incase they drip feed and you miss it (or have a memory like mine and can’t remember their username 2mins after reading it)

Another vote for frozen slices of lemon and lime for G&Ts or just posh water.

I don’t get my super king bedding into a pillowcase, but I do fold the pillows and sheets up and roll them in the duvet cover so they are all together.

I love the idea of freezing left over veg / beans / whatever then cooking up for soup.

troodiedoo · 03/09/2018 17:43

@Oliphantintheroom the iron has to be hot. then just rub a paracetamol tablet over it. it will melt taking the crud off with it. then just wipe with a damp cloth. all the while being careful not to burn yourself!

Whatsthisbear · 03/09/2018 19:32

OMG- soap instead of shower gel. I just read this on Sunday. Life changing, I haven’t spent all day in work feeling self conscious and constantly spraying myself!

Oliphantintheroom · 03/09/2018 21:36

@troodiedoo off to try it now Smile
I love MN Smile

I've just watch the video for how to fold a fitted sheet. I'm so amazed I'm going to get one out that's scrunched up in a ball and try it Grin

What's the deal with dishwasher tabs and oven doors please??
