I started the putting a whole bedding set in one pillowcase last year and it is SO much easier when changing all the beds

Also sprinkling bicarbonate over wiffy mattresses and hoovering up later on

And of course ZOFLORA Flowers

Mashed potato using microwave and potato ricer. I never boil potatoes for mash now

Buscake · 02/09/2018 08:06

I couldn’t open my washing machine filter last night and found a zombie thread with the same problem, same error code, same machine. MNter suggested wrapping your hand in a towel and punching it. It worked!!!

hmmwhatatodo · 02/09/2018 09:48

I can’t open my washing machine filter anymore either. It’s on the bottom right hand side and you have you screw the cap open. Will the same method work? YouTube suggests turning the machine on its side which I can’t due due to lack of space. Also don’t think I’m strong enough to do that!

I found the organised mum after she was recommended on mumsnet. Game changer !

goingtotown · 02/09/2018 11:12

A handful of dishwasher tablets in a stinky washing machine on the hottest wash gets rid of the smell.

TheMagicTorch · 02/09/2018 11:20

@mommybear1 bin liner hack - amazing!

TheMagicTorch · 02/09/2018 11:21

Screwing up a piece of baking paper then unscrewing it before lining a baking tin. It works so much better! Only learnt that one a few weeks ago Smile

This saved my sanity, my friendship and my friend''s daughter's hair when the child got a gob of chewing gum stuck in it. A LARGE spreading gob!some years ago.

I asked here for advice cos i couldnt comb it out and the alternative of cutting it out? Shock

So I was told to a) breatheGrin, b)buy a tin of lighter fuel at the tobacconist and I was assured that applying some drops of this would dissolve the gum.

AND IT WORKED!!!

Glory be!

I've still got that tin of lighter fuel and it's my go-to solvent for all sorts of sticky solutions.

So thank you MNetter, whoever you are.Flowers

Puppy mats for bedwetting kids. Rip them in half.

redexpat · 02/09/2018 15:04

Bullet journal.
Following books:

  • the life changing magic of tidying
  • playful parenting
  • how to do everything and be happy
  • how to talk so children will listen

And Ive learned what self worth is. And not to JADE.

MulticolourMophead · 02/09/2018 15:14

I use Bullet journal just for and at work. It works for that, but I don't like using one for my personal and home life stuff, I use an organiser diary (like Mum's office) for that.

Belletower · 02/09/2018 15:26

I second the bar-soap rather than shower gel thing! My job in particular can make you very stinky, and I have noticed that the work smell doesn't "cling" as much and I sweat far, far less!.

BalloonSlayer · 02/09/2018 15:55

Do you put the conditioner on to dry hair, or wet hair? (When doing the conditioner before shampoo thing). And I presume you do wash it off?

Buscake · 02/09/2018 18:33

@hmmwhatatodo definitely worth a try!

Silvertap · 02/09/2018 18:43

So many:

Talc for de sanding after the beach

Peeling off the back of stickers

Using tea tree oil on infected toenails (this really really works!)

I've lived in this house for 1 year and only after reading a thread on here this week did I realise that it has a short cycle. 35mins!! The other cycle is 2hr40. I hate getting up to empty the dishwasher. Now I can do it just before going to bed!

Silvertap · 02/09/2018 18:43

Oh and bleach and bicarbonate of soda painted onto shower grout then rinsed off cleans it up so well

AwdBovril · 02/09/2018 18:54

Biological washing powder, then bicarb for sick, milk etc on soft furnishings.
Store a set of bedding inside a pillowcase.

Bar soap, instead of shower gel. Zoflora! Grin
dementedma · 02/09/2018 21:02

i have never understood the peeling the back off the stickers thing. will someone please explain how this works?

SleepingBooty · 02/09/2018 21:11

Use soap rather than shower gel

Dishwasher tablet to clean oven door

esk1mo · 02/09/2018 21:15

for me - Double Wear Light was recommended on MN, as i found Double Wear too heavy for day time.

Zoflora obvs. and just lots of little life tips that i cant actually remember but definitely use!

oh and Feminism to be honest Smile

sepsisandAKI · 02/09/2018 21:15

demented ma you know when you have a sticker book or any stickers on a sheet you pull the large sticky bits off surrounding the actual stickers, leaving the stickers in place and easy to pick up. I hope that makes sense Confused
