Is that insane Blush

Just been dusting and replacing tea lights and counted them all! and found a spot for the 3 I bought today

So.. higher or lower than 15 anyone?

Lower I only have 5 - although once the cold dark nights draw in......

NonaGrey · 31/08/2018 19:23

None in the living room.

I don’t really like candles. They can be pretty but they are fire hazards.

I have some on my dining room table but rarely light them.

Davros · 31/08/2018 19:25

One huge 5 wick Diptique Feu de Bois. I nearly died if smoke inhalation the first time I used it. Maybe best not to light all 5 wicks

Hmm maybe IABU. I wouldn't class myself as a candle person either.. and I only light the wax melter thing and one of the jars.

I've just done a mental count for the full house. Not admitting that one.

Probably about 8.

SequinsOnEverything · 31/08/2018 19:33

I have a candle drawer in the kitchen. Literally nothing but candles in there. Despite having a drawer full of them, I have still bought two in the past two weeks.

Knittedfairies · 31/08/2018 19:36

I haven’t got any.

Mumof4under10 · 31/08/2018 19:36

Not far off you I have 12. Plus a glade wax melter. Only one of the candles gets lit and that's a large 3 wick one. Smells lovely.

Pinkvici22 · 31/08/2018 19:37

6 here! I love them.

Fluffiest · 31/08/2018 19:38

I also have a candle drawer in the kitchen! But I only have two out in the lounge, 1 in the bedroom and two in the bathroom.

How do you get 15 candles in one room? Not judging - honestly want to know.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 31/08/2018 19:38

I cannot bring myself to buy expensive candles. It feels like burning money, my inner puritan won't let me.

I do like the occasional beeswax one though, the height of my indulgence, candle wise.

Crunchymum · 31/08/2018 19:43

10 along the bathroom window, we never light them though (no candlelit baths here with all the kids!!)

I have a few St Eval ones dotted around the house.

So probably 15 in the house in total.

Witchend · 31/08/2018 20:17

I have 16 😜
That's because dd2 bought me and dh 8 each for Christmas and they're too pretty to light

Mumofoneprem · 31/08/2018 20:30

Witch.. Thank you! New high score.

Fluffiest- 2 windowsills with a jar on each and 2 tea lights in holders either side = 6. A lantern either end of the mantlepiece with a jar in the middle = 9. Set of 5 coloured tea light holders on the hearth and the wax melter = 15.

It's a big room and the fire doesn't actually work so I've covered it in candles so I can pretend to be warm in winter Grin

OP posts:
Frusso · 31/08/2018 20:57

None. Unless you count the Christmas one that belongs to ds(5) that has never been lit and never will because I hate candles and goes in whichever location ds decides to put it after hugging it lovingly.

PeanutButterLips · 31/08/2018 20:58

I have three.
I do know someone who buys Yankee candle jars frequently and has bought a bookcase showing them off. They are never lit and just used as ornaments , I'm not sure of the reason. I think it's wacky.

Cardiganandcuppa · 31/08/2018 21:00

So do you light them all? Or are they just ornaments?

Why don’t you get some.... ornaments??

I think I’ve got 3 in the whole house. Oh actually 2, I threw the third one away cos I didn’t like the smell Envy

BertieBotts · 31/08/2018 21:02

We've got about 7. DH is always buying and lighting them.

Davros · 31/08/2018 21:12

I'm not a candle fan at all but can tolerate the jumbo Diptyche one as it's posh and expensive in a big pottery jar. A shelf to display Yankee Candles Hmm

Nacreous · 31/08/2018 21:17

I have 3 in a decorative dish on the dining table, one in a lantern, and then another 8 in ramekins. Sometimes I have more in ramekins. I light them all if I want to - tealights are like £2 for 100 in Asda so it’s hardly an expensive habit.

I get they are a fire hazard if you have them in reach of pets or children, but if not I don’t know how a tealight is a fire risk? Because it would have to somehow jump out it’s holder to set things alight, surely?

ChinUpShouldersBack · 31/08/2018 21:18

16 tea lights in my summer house at the moment. It's so pretty

Ohyesiam · 31/08/2018 21:25

I only have one on the go at any time on the summer, but I light it most days. Currently liking the sunshine yellow ones from Tiger.

On a winter evening( or daytime if I’m about) it goes up to 6 or 7.

For my OH s birthday last year I lit about 40 candles in the sitting room for him to come down to on a dark January weekday. He loved bed it.

Idontmeanto · 31/08/2018 21:31

One 3 wick in the lounge, one in the bathroom, one in the bedroom. 16 tealight doodahs round the patio outside.

Marmite27 · 31/08/2018 21:34
  1. Yankee small jar, Yankee votive, Woodwick medium jar, tea light in the oil burner and 2 church candles in hurricane lanterns.
TittyGolightly · 31/08/2018 21:35

I have a family member who lives in a small studio flat. She let me stay there once. I had to book into a hotel after about an hour because of the 54 assisted candles, plug ins and vaporisers in that space (circa 400 square feet), all with different scents. The air was seriously toxic. Hideous.
