Ikea shopping list

Going to Ikea tomorrow to buy some toys and a few other bits (bedding, frying pan, try out some mattresses etc). And food and coffee beans, obviously. And some frames.

What else should be on my shopping list? What are you favourite things from Ikea?

Definitely the socktopus. Also scissors, tea towels and mini daim bars.

Fwend · 31/08/2018 21:06

Ziplock bags
Giant roll of paper for toddlers to draw on
20p flannels (instead of wet wipes)
Frozen cinnamon rolls

Popfan · 31/08/2018 21:09

I love their cheese grater with the pot thing underneath!
Definitely the zip lock bags

strawberrypenguin · 31/08/2018 21:29

We've got some of these ones curved pillows they've even survived the washing machine!

carrie74 · 31/08/2018 21:32

The socktopus is great.

I always seem to buy napkins, toilet brushes, picture frames, bath mats (I really like the soft nobbly ones).

We've got the white 365 crockery, it's been brilliant, and we usually need to buy a few extra bowls whenever we go to Ikea.

Oh the wooden hangers.

hodgeheg92 · 31/08/2018 21:37

Lol at Toad "Sock octopus (buy more than one it will save you going back for another one).

I had to go back for another one! I like their glassware if you're running low on glasses, which we often are cos I'm clumsy.

MrsJamin · 31/08/2018 21:37

Frozen meatballs, the sauce packets and lingonberry jam.... Mmmmmm

birkenstocks4ever · 31/08/2018 21:38

The £11 vorda bread knife! Used one in a holiday cottage recently and it was so awesome I made a special trip to Ikea to buy one 😁 (plus Swedish fish and marabou chocolate obv)

PrincessWire · 31/08/2018 21:39

I generally come out with a bewildering amount of cushions for some reason.

Davros · 31/08/2018 21:45

I want to know more about the curved pillow too, what's so great about it? I usually buy a few plants for our front path as I'm a binner and replacer

littlesquish · 31/08/2018 21:48

The jelly in the cafe
Those £5 white fabric under bed storage boxes

thismeansnothing · 31/08/2018 21:54

Always tea lights. I go through loads of them once autumn hits. I also like their green apple scented candles in a jar.

Otherwise it's meatballs for the freezer at home and sachets of the gravy powder. Aaaand there's some really nice biscuits in a blue cardboard tray/box that are amaaazing.

madmomma · 31/08/2018 22:00

Brilliant toys!

MongerTruffle · 31/08/2018 22:03

Pyttipanna and the large straws.

alltoomuchrightnow · 31/08/2018 22:14

Njelika pillow

kmmr · 31/08/2018 22:29

I'm loving their fake flowers at the moment. I buy one or two each time and now I can change the arrangement so it looks fresh. (I'm in Australia, I'm just presuming they exist in the UK)

NutButterNutter · 31/08/2018 22:32

They have fake dangly plants that look EXCELLENT on little high up shelves. I feel like I'm not a plant murderer!!

AlrightBabby · 31/08/2018 22:42

Get a couple of the big blue bags at the checkout, I use them for so much.

The scented candles but not the big ones

Batteries and bulbs are good

Yes, as pp said, cheese grater and scissors, the woks are good too and the large roasting tin

Obviously a bag of meatballs for the freezer and some Almondy cake

Cinnamon rolls!

ProudThrilledHappy · 31/08/2018 22:46

Came on to say knicker octopus but it looks like I’ve been using it wrong Grin and been beaten to it already

Skittlesandbeer · 31/08/2018 22:55

C’mon. How can you walk past the bumper packs of thick white serviettes?

Also tea candles (plain) and those kitchen clips for reclosing cereal-type packets.

ToadOfSadness · 31/08/2018 23:53

Yep, got one, went back for another one. Last time, no messing about just bought another 3. All stored on the shower rail above the bath because you can't hang them up without their tentacles spreading out, annoying little buggers.

Haven't used them for knickers but do use them for handkerchiefs and microfibre cloths.

ToadOfSadness · 31/08/2018 23:56

Someone said they hadn't seen one, here you are:

Ooh yes, I'm expecting dc3 in the spring so feel several Ikea shopping trips will be needed. What's good for babies? There's a gap between this one and my last dc so will be buying everything new or second hand. Hit me with Ikea baby shopping suggestions please.
