What does the Queen keep in her handbag??

So..the queen always has a handbag with her.

I was just wondering (aloud to OH who was no use at all), what do you think she carries in there?

Mobile phone? - does the Queen have one?? OH thinks she must have, but...really?

Make up/comb etc? - surely she has 'people' to do that for her.

A diary maybe?

What else? I'm thinking about my own bag which has:

purse - does the Queen need to actually pay for anything?
keys - to Windsor castle??
Phone - hmmm..?
Make up - has anyone ever seen her touching up her MU? Or would she really pop to the ladies room to rouge-up?

What else??

She'll have a problem folding the new £5 notes crisply. They keep sprinting open when I try it Grin

StylishDuck · 31/08/2018 14:23

*Springing even Hmm

billybagpuss · 31/08/2018 14:28

On one of the documentaries about her they were saying she uses it as a code. If you're a boring fart she'll move it to the other arm as a sign to her team to end the encounter.

Imagine how amusing the queen finds people speculating about what's in her handbag.

I bet it's just really boring stuff like; tissues, cough sweets, purse, compact - the kind of stuff my granny would keep in hers.

Fromage · 31/08/2018 18:24

The remote control for Prince Phillip.

He hasn't retired, she's just taken the batteries out.

rslsys · 31/08/2018 19:39

iPad permanently logged into Maamsnet . . .

specialsubject · 31/08/2018 20:24

I would pay anything to see her pull out the plastic gun with the 'BANG' sign.Grin

Longdistance · 31/08/2018 20:26

A bloody great big G&T.

Maelstrop · 31/08/2018 23:59

A cheek piece (part of a bridle)

Cough candy with obligatory fluff

Hankie

Gin

Shavings/horsehair/treats

Or is that mine?!

DaphneFanshaw · 01/09/2018 00:02

A rampant rabbit.
A can of special brew.
A tin of travel sweets.
A hanky.

linsey2581 · 01/09/2018 17:33

THE Queen keeps a lipstick, a silver compact mirror which wasn't given to her by the doe as a wedding gift. She also has a tissue and a picture of prince Andrew in his military outfit when he fought in the falklands war.

linsey2581 · 01/09/2018 17:34

That's supposed to say was given to her by the doe.

MrsKiplingwasmymother · 01/09/2018 17:38

A friend of mine was at a reception and during a chat with the Queen (he’s met her on a couple of occasions) she produced a pair of clean gloves and proceeded to change them. Apparently, people are nervous when they meet her and her gloves suffer!

Jaja101 · 01/09/2018 17:47

I would love her to have a taser in there for the time when Trump just walked in front of her rudely as if she wasn't there.

ImTheOnlyOneWhoDoes · 01/09/2018 17:47

Coke.

ChuffingNorah · 01/09/2018 17:55

Max factor creme puff
Small white cotton hankie with pink flowers embroidered on the corner.
Rimmel lipstick in Heather Shimmer.
Pound coins for the grand kids
Plastic rain hood
Pension book.

NWQM · 01/09/2018 18:06

Spare knickers apparently as she has different ones for different occasions & hasn’t to be appropriately knickered. Or at least the children’s book that we have read a zillion times would so have you believe.

1forAll74 · 01/09/2018 18:08

The Queen has had that black bag for years, unless she gets another one now and then from the royal bag makers,
I think she only has her specs, and a lacy hankie, and some cough sweets in her bag, but maybe a couple of dog biscuits, and a couple of carrots, as she loves horses, and is often seen with them.

MargaretDribble · 01/09/2018 18:16

Definitely a lipstick, because I saw her touching hers up at an event.
Reading glasses
Hanky
Speech if required.

mumlost1940 · 01/09/2018 18:52

Pics of her favourite corgis.
Ear plugs
Spare set of false teeth
A dog biscuit
Fold up Tiara

groundcontroltomontydon · 01/09/2018 19:02

A teacup elephant

ForalltheSaints · 01/09/2018 19:14

We have no idea, but thanks for raising a smile with your suggestions.

Spiderbabe13 · 01/09/2018 19:21

Lol to the cyanide pill.perhaps a hanky and some powder puff or something that an old lady would carry.would be interesting to find out.

hagsrus0 · 01/09/2018 19:37

One ring to rule them all

Flashingbeacon · 01/09/2018 19:37

I’m gutted. My dear old dad stated with absolute authority that it was a gun, sort of a last line of defence or in case of sudden republican feeling.
Tissues, glasses and mints seem a lot more likely.
