.. the crazy dog lady who has a menagerie of dogs, probably 3 mini dachshunds and a couple of scraggly rescues.

I'll live in a rural village surrounded by woodland, hopefully still with my DH, and I hope I didn't turn out like my own mother and my DC still talk to me and visit for Sunday lunch on occasion.

Anyone else think about this stuff? 😬

Some things I DO have to wait for. The kids are still at home, could be over 10 years before they fly the nest. I'd want to downsize, buy a small woodland and manage it.
Or I'd buy a little cottage with a massive garden and keep goats and chickens.
But then, I'd love to travel in a camper van for half the year and live in the cottage for the rest of the time.
Can't do that if I have too many pets!
As long as I can get to 70 years old with good help (and all our family), then that's good enough for me.

PoisonousSmurf · 30/08/2018 15:31

'Good health'

JynxaSmoochum · 30/08/2018 15:35

I'm going to dance at my 80th birthday party. I'll be fit with my bionic knees and hips from shuffling along at my 45 minute parkrun. I'll have hair in rainbow dyes. (Making the most of my natural colour and condition while it's got youth on its side)

longwayfromuk · 30/08/2018 15:41

I'm going to start a revolution, joined by an army of single women over 65 who want affordable, appropriate housing - so we can enjoy our pets, our friends and family and not feel isolated.

NipInTheAir · 30/08/2018 16:12

If I get to 80 I'm going to hit the sherry, have five cigarettes a day, and become truly indomitable. DH and I will do what we want, when we want. Oh, and I want a convertible and we will live in SW France for half the time.

BillywigSting · 30/08/2018 16:22

I will have a little cottage near the sea, with a patch of scrubby grass/gorse type stuff and a small herd of pygmy goats.

They will have lots of slides to play on but they won't be allowed near the herb garden on the other side.

I will have a real fire and thick warm fluffy carpets everywhere except the kitchen and wet room/bathroom.

There will also be plenty of cats and a cleaner will come twice a week so it doesn't stink.

I will have a dishwasher and a tumble dryer and a big claw foot bath with gold taps.

Said cottage will also have double glazing and central heating, low ceilings, fabric sofas and lots of cozy blankets dotted about.

I'll wear an awful lot of purple.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/08/2018 17:08

I'll sell up and buy a small flat in Primrose Hill and a Vespa, and spend my time tootling round the west end on it, terrifying the cabbies, and going to see lots of theatre and eat in nice restaurants. Occasionally the kids will visit to fret about me, and then I'll make them Martinis till they shush.

Unless DH is still alive - if he is we will retire to a cottage instead, and pootle about in a convertible MG in racing green.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 30/08/2018 17:23

Two Gloucester Old Spot pigs in a sty in the garden, and possibly a pet crow. I will read lots of books and do lots of baking and go on lots of days out. Hopefully I will have another sports car.
DH wants chickens, so he can spend the day talking to his organic plants and chasing hens about. We will have lunch or tea every day together, sitting at a little ironwork table on the patio if it's nice out.

Aprilshowersinaugust · 30/08/2018 17:25

I want to dispose of my cooker!!
Figured I have enough dc (11) that I can disperse myself throughout the week among their homes, eating at my leisure from their fridges for a change!!

sunshinesupermum · 30/08/2018 17:35

Please don't wait until you're too old for these things you wish for. Take it from a golden oldie!

JaretsGirlfren · 30/08/2018 17:59

I’ll have loads of dogs, loads of tattoos and the hairstyle I want but am not allowed at work.

LightDrizzle · 30/08/2018 18:25

I’ll divide my time between a small, city centre flat with a sunny terrace, and our house in Portugal.
I’ll read, paint and travel more. Learn languished, and enjoy my adult children and any offspring.

nonamehere · 30/08/2018 18:26

I'm retired already, and wouldn't like to have pets - I'm too selfish to have to consider them when travelling around this country visiting children/grandchildren, and abroad on holidays, or even just going out all day to choir, Rotary, U3A, lunch, coffee....... I'm enjoying this retirement lark, can you tell?

rogl · 30/08/2018 18:46

I've often thought about this, I would have
Beautiful handmade glass trinkets all over the house below shoulder height, I could clean on a Friday and it still be spotless a week later. I would spend my days reading books sitting outside cafes with pots of teas and yummy cakes.
I would bake to my hearts content and eat it all for breakfast. Hopefully live in the Lake District in a beautiful wood cabin with a log burner, have lie ins, baths in the middle of the day, experience brunch, spend one whole morning a week going round charity shops or car boots. And every Sunday I would do a humungous Sunday dinner for my children and grandchildren and after we would play charades or monopoly

LynetteScavo · 30/08/2018 19:23

I'm going to shave my head and travel across land of Singapore. When I get there my hair will have grow sufficiently so it can be styled in an amazing grey crop, and I will drink a singapore sling cocktail before flying home to care for my many grandchildren and great grand children.

I will perfect my pastry and jam making.

I will document it all on Instagram. Especially close ups of my pie crusts.

LynetteScavo · 30/08/2018 19:24

Moominfan · 30/08/2018 19:33

Wear bright colours, fucktons or make up, smoke a lot of weed and covered in tattoos

delphguelph · 30/08/2018 19:57

It'll always be autumn.
I'll have an allotment.
Aga in the kitchen.
Lots of grandchildren and maybe a dog.
A nice cafe nearby.
Lots of open countryside to walk in.

MaryandMichael · 30/08/2018 21:29

60 here.
Loving it.
A lottery win would bring me a cottage on the west coast of Ireland.
Apart from that, I'm happy just plodding on, seeing my dd and her family, seeing my dad, being me.
No more animals!

MaryandMichael · 30/08/2018 21:30

Oh, if I get to 70, I'm going to celebrate with a Hollands pudding, chips, peas and gravy from a chip shop. I haven't had that since 1988, and I'm counting the days.

annandale · 30/08/2018 21:39

I hope to spend 65-70 having a fantastic time with all pets finally dead, all parents and inlaws dead, ds into his 30s - i want to do what i do now only more of it - walking trips in gorgeous places with friends, huge amounts of socialising and more time for live theatre.

At 70 i hope i can be dead - it used to be 75 but the more i see of extreme old age the more i want no risk of staggering on past 80.

blinkineckmum · 30/08/2018 21:47

enjoying life like my Nana did. Her dh died 14 years before her and she really enjoyed her freedom. Going out, travelling...
I hope my dh goes first. He hates being alone. I like to think I'll keep active in body and mind for as long as possible, and nurture both.
Reading, walking, talking in more than one language, playing the piano, swimming, writing and sleeping.
