A weird thing just happened...

snoopydogg · 27/08/2018 21:50

I was in the bath and I started feeling weird, a bit light headed and dizzy. I got out of the bath and felt very light headed and so dizzy I couldn't focus properly. I managed to walk to my bedroom and lay down and still feel a bit shaky and odd.

This hasn't happened to me before! Any ideas?

I'm scared to go to sleep now!

Your blood pressure dropped. It happens to a lot of people in the bath

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 27/08/2018 21:52

Hot bath causes your blood pressure to drop, then you stand causing it to drop further. You should be fine pretty quickly.

PurpleDaisies · 27/08/2018 21:52

Was the bath quite hot? It occasionally happens to me and it is very scary. Flowers

Bath too hot? I've felt a bit wobbly after a hot soak.

Partyfops · 27/08/2018 21:53

Are you home alone?

ExBbqQueen · 27/08/2018 21:53

Blood pressure dropped - happens to me a lot.

Ioki · 27/08/2018 21:54

I’ve had this - four or five times out of the blue, once after a bath and it lasted about half an hour; I was also told it was blood pressure related

CakeNinja · 27/08/2018 21:54

What everyone else said!

snoopydogg · 27/08/2018 21:54

I'm not home alone as my lodger is downstairs and I've told him to shout up for me in the morning as I felt weird!

I have a bath almost every night and it's never happened before...

Sometimes it happens like that. Try not to worry (easier said than done though).

Magnussen · 27/08/2018 21:55

Happens to me in the bath!! You'll be fine

aperolspritzplease · 27/08/2018 21:56

Hot bath. Low blood pressure.

snoopydogg · 27/08/2018 21:57

You're all making me feel better.

Is it worth getting my blood pressure checked out? Although I'm on the pill and only had it done about 6 months ago.

WhoWants2Know · 27/08/2018 22:00

It's very common, but never hurts to have your blood pressure checked. Just keep an eye on your bath temperature to be safe.

AimlesslyPurposeful · 27/08/2018 22:03

Dehydration can cause low blood pressure. Perhaps you haven’t had much to drink today?

That and a hot bath would cause your blood pressure to drop.

Septima · 27/08/2018 22:18

Take a cup of tea with you whilst you have your bath.

Smellyrose · 27/08/2018 22:20

Happens to me sometimes with a hot bath. I had low blood pressure during pregnancy so assume that’s what’s happening ( low blood pressure, not getting pregnant by a hot bath!)

troodiedoo · 27/08/2018 22:22

it happens sometimes for a myriad of reasons all colliding. a one off is nothing to worry about. no harm in a blood test and pressure check though.

it can be scary the first time it happens. take it easy, drink plenty of water and regular meals.

Sandstormbrewing · 27/08/2018 22:22

Dehydration and low salt levels can cause you to feel faint.

Happens to me frequently, usually if my bath is just a tad hotter than usual.

Seeingadistance · 27/08/2018 22:22

I agree this is probably low pressure - dropping in hot bath and then again when you stood up and got out. It's happened to me a few times, but I know that my bp is low.

Probably worth having your bp checked out. You can get it checked at the chemists. I've had mine checked at Boots in the past.

AdoraBell · 27/08/2018 22:23

I get this when I have a really hot bath. I know it happens so when I get out of the bath I lay down with a towel around me for a minute or two before I actually dry off.

atomicfission · 27/08/2018 22:23

Smellyrose is that not how it happens then? ShockGrin

Jaxhog · 27/08/2018 22:24

It happens to me too. Not often, but it's pretty scary when it does. (I throw up too). It happens when the hot water has made all the blood rush to your skin, so your brain isn't getting enough oxygen from the resulting low blood pressure.

Lie down for a bit, and drink a glass of cold water. You'll be fine.

Everyoneiswingingit · 27/08/2018 22:26

I have quite low blood pressure-90/60 at times. I used feel like that after a hot bath so don't have them. It happens when I stand up too quickly too. I have to hold on to something when it does. Make sure you keep hydrated if it's low as dehydration can make it drop too. i guess a very hot bath would add to dehydration. Raise your legs higher than your heart,
