Inspired by the interesting thread asking the opposite question, what food do you really like that's generally hated?

Mine would be raw egg - stirred with salt and pepper, it makes a lovely dip!

hairy hands they are ace aren't they lol

MrsRubyMonday · 23/08/2018 22:56

@ILikeyourHairyHands but have you tried vinegar in baked beans? Beans cooked long and low until thick and slightly caramelised, then thinned back out with a ton of malt vinegar, on hot buttery toast with strong cheddar. I've converted a few people.

Other foods:
Tinned carrots
Turkey dinosaurs and tinned spaghetti
Bird's eye chicken burgers with plastic cheese and more vinegar

augustusglupe · 23/08/2018 22:58

Oh yes and Blancmange!! Hot or preferably cold, with a nice set skin.

melin · 23/08/2018 23:04

Bernard Matthews turkey drummers

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 23:04

I HAVE MrsRuby, I always vinegar my beans (sounds like a niche sexual practice).

I'm of the opinion that all rich, sweet food needs an acidic kick, I make a variation of quick pickled onions to serve with so many things.

It's all about balance.

Needsleepneedsleep · 23/08/2018 23:07

Brussels Sprouts
Salad Cream

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 23:10

Needs I really like a cheese, cucumber, lettuce, tomato and salad cream sandwich on soft seeded bread. I keep a bottle of salad cream specifically for this purpose.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 23:13

Oh, I also like pickled beetroot, cheap potato salad and ham all mixed up with a boiled egg.

I worked in an office once where I got everyone eating ham, egg, beetroot and potato salad sandwiches.

QueenOfMyWorld · 23/08/2018 23:15

Sliced Gherkins(in a fishfinger sandwich)
Haslet
Olives
Pizza dipped in American mustard

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 23:16

I also like foie gras and a nice glass of sauternes which is not very popular these days.

anitagreen · 23/08/2018 23:16

Another one ready salted crisps with tons of vinegar poured in the packet and then I drink the soggy crisp juice at the end Grin

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 23:18

Queen, surely gherkins or at least tartar sauce are obligatory in a fish-finger sandwich?

I always have gherkins and onions on the side of any battered fish. It's the bloody law!

BigBlueBubble · 23/08/2018 23:23

Dripping on bread or toast! I literally used to have to fight DH to prevent him throwing it away because he thinks it’s gross. Now he just accepts that I eat it Grin

Do the pp’s who eat soft roe know it’s fish sperm?!!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 23:26

I do Big, I love smoked cods' roe. I also love caviar.

Love a bit of piscatine reproduction. It's very tasty.

Most things are tasty if treated with care really.

hotcrossbun99 · 23/08/2018 23:57

Tongue sandwiches with a bit of salt on. My favourite.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 24/08/2018 00:03

I always eat potato salad with pickled beetroot and those bacon crispy salad topper things, like you get at a salad bar. I think they are soya based?

Shelvesoutofbooks · 24/08/2018 00:05

Pickled beetroot

firehousedog1 · 24/08/2018 00:13

Lentils. As a vegetarian they are good for adding to various dishes to fill you up.

Charliecatpaws · 24/08/2018 00:15

Tinned mackerel with cottage cheese, strange combo but works sooooo well, I’ve even got DH eating it, on its own, with a jacket potato or salad, bloody lush 👌

buttermilkwaffles · 24/08/2018 00:17

Anchovies.

Tartyflette · 24/08/2018 00:35

Raw black pudding.
Tripe, especially done the Italian way in a casserole with tomatoes, borlotti beans and Parmesan. (Marcella Hazan recipe but I've also eaten it in Italy.)
In fact I love all offal - kidneys, liver, sweetbreads, tongues, and yes, even brains. Sautéed and served with browned butter and caper sauce.
Oxtail.
Adore herring roes on toast.
Cooked Spring greens or green cabbage smothered in Tabasco. ( Other hot sauces are available. )
Pigs' trotters. Jellied eels with lots of vinegar and pepper. Oysters. Anchovies.
OTOH I'm not keen on chicken breast -- dull and can be dry. The best bits of the chicken are the 'oysters' underneath the carcass.
