Inspired by the interesting thread asking the opposite question, what food do you really like that's generally hated?

Mine would be raw egg - stirred with salt and pepper, it makes a lovely dip!

Cod roe, battered from the chippy. So pleased they've started selling it.
Pickled eggs, also from the chip shop.
Black pudding is gorgeous. DS eats it with tinned pasta.
Gherkins.

Vinorosso74 · 23/08/2018 21:12

What's with the vomitous egg threads 🤮

I love tofu now that I know how to cook it.

AdaColeman · 23/08/2018 21:34

Black pudding ~ I do a fab winter starter of mushrooms, diced bacon and diced black pudding all quickly fried together and served on bitter leaves like rocket.

Kidneys and sweetbreads.

Rabbit, not often available here unfortunately.

Veal, becoming popular perhaps.

Skate, poached and served cold with mayonnaise.

Earslaps · 23/08/2018 21:40

I forgot- semolina is also lovely! Much better than rice pudding.

finethen · 23/08/2018 21:41

Cheapest tinned hot dogs you can find - yum

BogstandardBelle · 23/08/2018 21:45

Yum - I had tartare italien (raw steak haché with pesto, olive oil, capers, Parmesan and a raw egg yolk) for lunch today, it was delish !
Also love black pudding, haggis.

Moominfan · 23/08/2018 21:47

Another for tinned mackerel. Love Brussels sprouts roasted covered in salt, pepper, garlic and mint yum. Super noodles with fried onions, tuna and melted cheese. I didn't know you could eat raw egg

Longdistance · 23/08/2018 21:54

Sprouts
Octopus/squid with legs and tentacles 🐙🦑
Oysters
Gherkins

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 21:54

I ordered a steak tartare last week and was very disappointed when it came mixed up with the yolk, madness. I had nowhere to dip me frites.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 21:57

After reading the book Other Minds Long, I can't actually eat octopus anymore. Even though delicious, they're really intelligent and sensitive creatures with a rich inner-life.

(I have convinced myself squids are thick though).

lastqueenofscotland · 23/08/2018 21:59

Tofu
Mushy peas

MrsMoastyToasty · 23/08/2018 21:59

Liver and bacon casserole (must be pigs liver and must be made by my mum), served with sprouts (which must have vinegar on them) and mashed potato.

The skin off custard

Sausage in batter

I do hate tinned spaghetti tho and OH LOVES IT Confused

ILikeyourHairyHands · 23/08/2018 22:16

MrsToasty, I love vinegar on casseroles. The piquancy cuts through the richness a treat.

*See Also; Vinegar on fried eggs.

And Anita I love an Unearthed frankfurter rolled up in a slice of bread with tonnes of ketchup on as an occasional breakfast.

And yes Baby pork crackling, the hairier the better (home-made crackling is really, really good with home-made guacamole if you're making carnitas, cut the rind off the shoulder and deep fry or bake at a really hot temp and serve as a bit of a starter with drinks. So fucking good).

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 23/08/2018 22:17

Doner kebab. I just love that elephant foot with red cabbage and salad and chilli sauce.

Mominatrix · 23/08/2018 22:27
