What are you and DC doing right now?

I've been off for the whole holidays. We went away for the first week, DD went camping for the second week, DS went with his dad for two weeks. We've had a couple of trips to the seaside and castles and things.

Today, DD is in bed watching Netflix, DS is in his room watching YouTube and I'm ummm smelling my new scents burning Blush.

Does anyone else feel neglectful and like you're being a shit mum and wasting their time if this is all that's happening?

11 month old is putting things into and out of a colander. Her friend is next to her doing the same. I’m not interfering!

HollyGibney · 23/08/2018 11:07

I am about to go and clean, kids are on screens. I don't feel too bad, we've done TONS this holiday and I have spent a fortune. I think sometimes a stretch of down days is just what's needed. We will go shopping and walk the dog later. Next week we've got loads planned before back to school and then when we go back it's none stop till Christmas.

Onthebrink87 · 23/08/2018 11:09

Give yourself a break op Wine

Single mum to 3ds 5,9 and 10. Run ragged all holidays barely had an activity free day.

Right this second all 3 upstairs playing Minecraft together and I've just plonked my arse on the sofa. I dont feel bad I'm allowed to have a day of begger all if not I'll burn out and they'll be fending for themselves!

I shall be off to my (voluntary) work this afternoon, dropping DD at a sports camp on the way.

DS1 is away on holiday with friends (and I'm operating on a 'no-news-is-good-news' basis) until tomorrow

DS2 is in his room on his computer. As he's being fairly quiet, I'm assuming he's gaming - because most of his holiday homework is a collaborate project and I can usually hear when he's doing that. He's actually made a reasonably diligent start, but I'm not sure how well he's planned gin time to finish it all.

Deadheadstickeronacadillac · 23/08/2018 11:14

11 month old is watching mister maker and cuddling a fluffy whilst refusing to nap.
11 year old is playing rugby in a field.
I am bouncing off the walls as I have just got the GCSE results for my class and they are bloody amazing! We had excellent A-level results too so I am just overwhelmed with pride for my dept and the students.

AuntieStella · 23/08/2018 11:14

Crikey - I've trained my keyboard strangely! Not 'gin time' (that's me at weekends) but 'enough time'

MrsMotherHen · 23/08/2018 11:18

were having a day in today as am in work tonight on nights and its pissing down so ceebies is on between them following me around doing housework.

This afternoon were all going to get a nice hot bath then a film while they hopefully have a small nap so i can shut my eyes for 10mins Blush

happypotamus · 23/08/2018 11:21

DDs are playing with Lego, not arguing, shouting at each other or throwing things just at the moment.
I am emptying the dishwasher.
I do sometimes feel guilty that we could have done more fun, exciting things around my work shifts, but we basically have no money now until pay day. We are going to do crafts at the library this afternoon. DD1 and I are going to see the Matilda musical this evening though, and I am very excited, she doesn't know where we are going.

YarnObsessor · 23/08/2018 11:23

We’ve hardly been anywhere, did one theme park day and ds stayed at his aunties for a weekend mostly we’ve been in pjs watching films and not going out. He’s at a club this week so we’re out but I have to stay in the building in case I’m needed.
We also have had millions of appointments for me and him too, he finally got diagnosed autistic and I’m finally moving up the waiting list for surgery.
I’m not pushing it there’s nothing wrong with staying home watching films or going out every day whatever gets you all through six weeks.

wendz86 · 23/08/2018 11:46

Dd1 is upstairs on her tablet . Dd2 is watching show me show me. Wecare going to splash park this afternoon so not feeling too bad about it.

ninecoronas · 23/08/2018 11:49

Dd also watching show me show me while I make lunch/eat biscuits without her noticing...
I'd promised myself no telly today but I'm pregnant and knackered and it won't kill her!

humaneyes · 23/08/2018 11:53

It's now films and sandwiches. I've hung a blind and done some washing so reducing the guilt a little...

My DC are at school and I'm at work. 8 weeks of school holidays are over. :)

TantricTwist · 23/08/2018 12:11

Grin at gin time

We are all in our rooms on our various laptops and iPads.

I ask them if they want to go out, they say no, I punch the air in relief, job done as in I made the effort Grin

kaytee87 · 23/08/2018 12:13

Took 2yo ds to toddlers this morning, came in and he had lunch and he's now napping.
This afternoon we'll just be at home though as it's really heavy rain and I'm waiting for deliveries.

Cedar03 · 23/08/2018 12:17

I am working from home. DD is tidying/sorting out her bedroom. She's at the 'everything is pulled out and the room looks worse than it did before she started' stage.
I may have to give her a hand when I finish work.
Surely doing nothing is what the holidays are all about?

CrochetBelle · 23/08/2018 12:21

DC are both at school. I'm on the sofa drinking a coffee and thinking of taking a nap.

Gazelda · 23/08/2018 12:32

DD(10) is at a holiday club this morning. I've just had a blood test.
Friend coming for play date this afternoon. Similar tomorrow.
I work 3 days/week while dd at holiday club, do I try to plan activities on the days I'm off (out if guilt).
I'm off work next week, last week if hols. We've got nothing planned except a couple of picnics with friends. I'm looking forward to having a few PJ and TV days. Think we both need it before the long autumn term gets underway.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 23/08/2018 12:34

Mine have been on screens/watching tv since 9am... I'm mumsnetting. All of us are still in pyjamas.

Might walk along to library later to get some fresh air... or we might stay indoors all day 😂

PinkCalluna · 23/08/2018 12:37

The kids are at school and I’m having lunch.

Flamingosnbears · 23/08/2018 12:43

We've had the playdough out, coloured in, had their favourite songs on and danced right now their playing with their toys together... We have also been on lots of days out to museums, art galleries, fun parks, the beach, the woods, parks, cannals and bought tons of things... You have to have down time and let them use their imagination.

Crunchymum · 23/08/2018 13:44

5yo and 3yo are burning some energy in the crappy little park opposite our house (to be fair they love it even though we have several parks that are better and also very close by!)

The baby has caught the cough and cold we all had so I didn't want to venture far today.

Off home soon to prep dinner and wait for baby's cot-bed to be delivered.

dontknowwhattodo80 · 23/08/2018 14:22

DS1 on the PS4 - fortnite
DS2 on the Xbox - watching YouTube

I'm sat on the sofa watching DS1, whilst on MN, Facebook and playing crap games on my phone

We're having a lazy day at home, after a few busy weeks, and DS1 hasn't been too well so needs a break

WilburIsSomePig · 23/08/2018 14:26

Just back from Lidl, having a cup of tea and some teeth dissolving baklava.

DS out on his bike with his mate.
DD in her room writing her best selling novel.
DH at work.
Dog in his bed snoring like a train.

All is well in the world right now which is a nice feeling.
