Do your primary school age dc have a school coat?

Obviously they have a coat to wear to school but is it specifically for school or do they just wear their normal coat?
Curious now after a conversation with friend

Normal coat. I’ve always thought it was a waste of money to buy a coat they would only wear Monday to Friday.

What’s the point in needing to buy two coats?!

Our school has a branded school coat for primary but if it didn't Id have bought somehting suitable for both since they grow so quickly and its a complete waste of money (and resources) to buy two

Mine have school/ nursery coats, they get messy and it usually need washing at the weekend.

I can't imagine them having just one coat, even a trip to the park in winter can end up with needing their coat washed?

I have always had two normal coats for ds though. When one needs washing he still needs to have a coat available!

Normal coat. as most round here.
Poor area, coats for different things is not an option for many.

DS2 has two that we rotate because he just gets filthy.

Yes but it’s a prep school. He has a blazer and a 3 in 1 coat as well. The rest of the uniform can be bought from a supermarket so in fact the coat/blazer is the only branded bit.

Just one coat each. Id rather they had one decent one for about £30. That is enough expense for us. If they get muddy we wipe them clean or give a quick wash if they’re really bad as they dry quickly.

DS has a school branded coat -only because they are sold 2nd hand for £1, wouldn't wa t to pay £15 for new

No. I couldn't afford another coat just for wearing at the weekends. It is a problem when DD gets her coat filthy and it doesn't tumble dry though.

DDs have 2 coats.

They have a school coat in 'school colours' and a weekend colourful/patterned coat.

We had official blazer in summer and school duffel coat in winter.

So we had to have different coats.

no.
the official school coat is bloody dangerous. dark colour with no reflectives.
we (and most other parents) got bright coloured coats with reflective material for our dc.

No school coat. He has more than one coat, but only because he has had coats handed down from friends. I can see this thread derailing into a coat washing thread....!

No school coat but I buy mine 2 coats each in the winter anyway so one can be washed while the other is in use.
They are fairly filthy children though and are always rolling/falling in mud!

Our school coats have to be plain navy, no embellishments, logos or other colours at all. So they have an outside school coat which is a bit more interesting. Often this is a hand me down from cousins though so I'm not always buying two coats and they'll get at least 2 years out of a coat anyway.

Two coats. School coat is also used for visits to exh he has a habit of forgetting things so have to have a spare. I use sales and primark.

No my primary school aged kids just wear their normal coats to school. An anorak or a heavier raincoat one (we get a lot of rain Grin). The school has no uniform policy on coats at all - whatever you have does.

God no, just one coat. He's not rolling in mud in it daily so only needs washing occasionally. He also only has one pair of decent shoes, for school and everything else, an old knackered pair for playing in plus slippers and 1 pair of wellies. I want him to focus on the important stuff in life, not trying to impress others.

Mine has 2 coats, a nicer one for weekends and a cheaper one we are not fussed about for him to wear at school. He gets way muckier at school than when we go out at weekends!

Mine have far too many coats because my mother's forever spotting bargain ones and buying them just because they're a bargain.

I've bought them the logoed school coats that are fleece inside this year just because they're decent quality and we had constant problems last year with one of the dinner ladies complaining about zips on various coats for DD2 (has coordination problems so still needs help with zips) that "oh I can't do this zip you'll have to get mummy to make you wear a different coat" (zip was fine) and we ended up in the middle of winter where DD2 was taking this very seriously and wouldn't wear any of her coats because "Mrs X said I can't wear this one"... so if I've got the uniform one Mrs X can't really bloody complain and cause problems this year.

(Before any of the arseholes start - DD2 is working with us, and with the occupational therapist and zips are one of the big targets we've got set to nail)

They have a coat they wear for school, a playing out coat which is old and mucky because mine do roll around in puddles and a decent coat.

It's a school coat that they wear all the time. They don't have a non-school coat.
