What name can Starbucks definitely not get wrong?

I'm sick of being asked to spell my name in Starbucks. It's a normal name, probably not chosen very often nowadays but still common enough.

Today I decided to be Jo. 2 letters, no explanation required.

But no, they asked me if it was Joe with an E or Jo without an E. Does it even matter if they put an E on it or not?

I realise I could solve this problem by just not going to Starbucks but I like Starbucks. Help me find a name they can't possibly get wrong or have to ask me to spell. Any suggestions?

In Starbucks in Florida the guy in front was called Josè, on his cup she wrote hose, as in garden hose. I can undrrstand i the UK but there is a huge hispanic population in Florida.

Blankiefan · 22/08/2018 16:11

My coffee name is Ingrid (nowhere near my real name). They always hear it first time and never get it wrong.

It's a bit random - I chose it for it's clarity
I suspect it's because it has a lot of hard consonant sounds in it- vowels tend to me more regional so are often misheard.

Perhaps you should have advised the guy in front to buy a lottery ticket Grin

What do they do if you take your own cup? Presumably they're aren't writing on it.

Maybe that's your solution. Take your own cup?

bakingdemon · 22/08/2018 16:15

My husband gives them a different name every time, often the name of the author of whatever he happens to be reading at the time 😁

Seeline · 22/08/2018 16:17

'None of your Business' Although they'd definitely spell that wrong

You should try Starbucks sometime Grin

They write it on a sticker, and put that on the cup.

Not sure what it says about the Rossetti appearance, but all 3 Starbucks we used to drop into knew me by name pretty quickly. (Then managed to piss me off, so won't be going there for a long while ...)

I call myself Costa.

AdaColeman · 22/08/2018 16:30

Sid ~ Everyone can spell that!

bellinisurge · 22/08/2018 16:31

I always make up whatever comes into my head at the time.

NicoAndTheNiners · 22/08/2018 16:33

Because of bloody Starbucks all my work friends now call me by a different name. Hardly anybody calls me by my real name anymore. They all thought it was hilarious what I got called (more than once) on my Starbucks mug and have called me by that for years now.

I am resigned to it and now give this as my name in Starbucks!

NicoAndTheNiners · 22/08/2018 16:33

And it’s not even a proper name!

Bella898 · 22/08/2018 16:34

Mary Brew You're welcome

IreneWinters · 22/08/2018 16:37

5 of us went at the weekend and asked them to put Bob on all the cups. They weren't happy. No queue behind us though, so not sure who they thought were going to take the drinks. I like Dave Gorman's approach of going for something not available on the menu that someone else might like the sound of and then try to order. I usually protest at giving my name as if am on my own I don't really want everyone in the place knowing my name. Have considered going for something like The Queen but I like Nero more as I do actually prefer them anyway Grin Hate Costa but do like the idea of giving a silly answer to a silly question. Now though, I suspect I may be in a queue with a number of people uncannily named after coffee shop chains....Smile The vowel point, well made too. Something like Kiki (the parrot from Enid Blyton) might work well. Thanks for the good tips.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/08/2018 16:42

My first thought was Bob.

Said like rowan atkinson in blackadder.

YeTalkShiteHen · 22/08/2018 16:45

Bob
Everyone can spell Bob

Not in Glasgow Starbucks they can’t! DP started using Bob because they never got his own name right (3 letters, spelled phonetically but way too outing) and they put Rob!

Takfujimoto · 22/08/2018 16:47

Joy? Or a capital city, everyone knows London, Paris, Tokyo.

PasstheStarmix · 22/08/2018 16:48

Jo

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/08/2018 16:51

Say your name is Q and you are from the Q contuum.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/08/2018 16:51

continuum

not sure how to spell that!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/08/2018 16:52

Or a number?

007
Number Six
etc

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/08/2018 16:54

What about a Klingon name?

If they're going to struggle with Jo / Bob, maybe really give them something tricky?

RaspberryRipple1963 · 22/08/2018 16:58

Well,I didn't think you could go far wrong with Jane. But I've ended up as Joan,Jean,Jay and Jen. Maybe it's the way I say it? Hmm

campion · 22/08/2018 17:01

DGRossetti that youtube video's brilliant.I thought of that when I saw this thread.

I just choose a name I fancy that day. The longer and more difficult to spell the better as it seems a bit childish to be asking for my first name. I do have to remember what I said and DH does have a habit of laughing when I say it.
