Beans on toast 'recipes'

Dinner last night sparked a funny conversation in our household. Had a really busy day so decided we'd all have beans on toast for dinner but I like to jazz mine up a bit, my favourites are,

Marmite on the toast with loads (half a block) of extra strength cheddar on top.

Caramelised onions with melted brie on top

Spinach, onions and peppers with balsamic glaze on top.

Dp and dc think I'm nuts to faff over it and all just have have them plain with maybe a sprinkling of cheese on top.

Please share what you like on yours as always looking for new ideas or do you just have them plain?

I like branston but sometimes the ease of the Heinz tin makes it the winner!!

plenty of butter on the toast then the beans with either HP sauce or sweet chilli sauce drizzled on top. making me hungry now

Timeisslippingaway - yes, Heinz. It means you get a beany-sauce / scrambled egg concoction which adds to the strangeness of the look, but it does taste good, honest!

Infidels the lot of you

One of the first 'meals' a boyfriend ever made for me was his 'garlic beans on toast'. 2/3 fat cloves of garlic finely chopped, add to the beans when cold then heat as normal. When cooked add a fuck-tonne of extra mature cheese, hot buttered wholemeal toast. Pour delicious concoction on top. You should have some big lumps of cheese in there where its not quite melted.

Reader, I married him.

Chopped onion, bacon, mushrooms, garlic and chilli cooked in loads of butter, then tip in the beans, and top with heaps of grated cheese. Heaven.

Home made white bread doorsteps toasted, spread with Pataks aubergine chutney, then beans, then strong grated cheddar and then grilled. Food of the gods.

I always sprinkle a good helping of black pepper in with the beans when I do it for myself.
