Curious. How would you be prn?

Cloudier. Clawdier.

amusedbush · 21/08/2018 16:50

I know two. One is a beautiful Italian woman who pronounces it cloud-ee-ah.

The other is a cat Grin (claw-dia... boom boom!)

FunkeMonkey · 21/08/2018 16:51

Probably Cloud ee ah

Love it, it was in the top 5 for DD (we went with no.1 name though), re. PP, would pronounce it Clawdier as in Winkleman.

It was on my radar because of Anne Rice's character (although she did meet a grizzly end), but also we're both Farscape and SG1 fans and the actress Claudia Black is in both. But mainly we just liked it. Not overly popular but not too out there either. Much like the name we went with!

FunkeMonkey · 21/08/2018 16:58

Give it a twist and spell it with a K so Klaudia

TheKurgan · 21/08/2018 16:59

It is an EXCELLENT name (my dd's name)! She likes it too.

Rockbird · 21/08/2018 17:03

Lovely name.

pilates · 21/08/2018 17:18

I think it’s a lovely name but you will get posters saying they don’t like the meaning of it (lame) but I wouldn’t let that put you off.

FunkeMonkey · 21/08/2018 17:21

What's the meaning of it? Oops didn't even think about that

OP posts:
FunkeMonkey · 21/08/2018 17:22

Ohh the actual meaning of the name is lame .

Gorgeous name! I had a friend at school called Claudia and always thought it was a very sophisticated name

Rockbird · 21/08/2018 17:25

Very few people care what their name means. My name means princess. Alas I am not one Hmm

Babybearsporij · 21/08/2018 17:31

I love the name Claudia / Claudie. I'd say Claw-dia. It was vetoed for my DC, unfortunately, so please use it OP and I can live vicariously through you Grin

TheKurgan · 21/08/2018 17:32

Yes, my name means 'attendant at a sacrifice' but it rarely comes up in conversation! We chose Claudia as we thought it was a lovely name without there being two of them in every classroom.

80sMum · 21/08/2018 17:35

No, OP, don't spell it with a K for goodness' sake! That would look a bit naff.

Davros · 21/08/2018 17:38

I like it but Claw-dia like Winkleman. My name means sorrow!

haverhill · 21/08/2018 17:42

It’s lovely. Personally I prefer the Cloud-ia pronunciation.

shirleyschmidt · 21/08/2018 17:58

I love it, classy and quite rare. Would only pronounce it Claw-dia though!

helpmum2003 · 21/08/2018 18:25

Love it - please don't use a K - maybe that was a joke? Either pronunciation would be fine.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 21/08/2018 18:26

I like the Cloud pronunciation but would always assume the Claw pronunciation.

Please don’t spell it with a K unless you are an aspiring Kardashian.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 21/08/2018 18:32

Love it. Classy and feminine.

EnidButton · 21/08/2018 18:33

K is naff af. Don't do that.

Where I live eveyone would pronounce it Claw Dear whether you wanted them to or not.

Other than that I love it.

PUGaLUGS · 21/08/2018 18:49

I love the name. I worked with a Claudia, pronounced Clawdia.

MollyHuaCha · 21/08/2018 18:53

Claudia (pronunciation Claw-dia) is a lovely name. Claudine is nice too.

I do like the pronunciation Cloud-ia too, but this is more unusual in the UK and Cloud-ia will possibly spend her life correcting people who say Claw-dia.

FoodGloriousFud · 21/08/2018 19:16

Claw-dia is lovely, Cloud-ia is wank.
