I haven't told anyone it's my driving test today

And I'm nervous and have no one to talk to.
Everyone thinks it's a regular lesson, except my instructor obviously so there's no one to reassure me or wish me luck.

I'm a good driver, my instructor has a good pass time rate but my nerves are going to get the better of me, I know it SadSad

Deep breaths, concentrate and don't be put off if you do something wrong. Good luck!

Sittingonthefence83 · 21/08/2018 08:15

Good luck!! You'll be fine x

FaithEverPresent · 21/08/2018 08:17

Good luck! Try standing like WonderWoman for 2 minutes before your test. There’s a TED talk that shows that standing in a power pose before an interview reduces anxiety and increases confidence so you’re more likely to get the job. Worth a try?

FWIW I was really nervous but I still passed. I actually did something which I thought meant I’d failed so then I relaxed. Turned out to be a minor! Smile

What time is your test?

Japanesejazz · 21/08/2018 08:17

Deep breaths will help. It is nerve racking but that’s the point I guess to prove you can drive well you under pressure. Good luck

CurbsideProphet · 21/08/2018 08:17

You can do it @BigBumandMumTum Smile Flowers Smile

bangourvillagebesttimeever · 21/08/2018 08:18

How exciting! Good luck

ToftheB · 21/08/2018 08:18

Good luck! I hope you have a smooth, easy run.

FaithEverPresent · 21/08/2018 08:20

That TED talk is here if you need something to distract you. It’s about 20 minutes long but worth watching.

Fizzforfun · 21/08/2018 08:21

Good Luck!

WooYa · 21/08/2018 08:21

Good luck! I was a bag of nerves for mine and I passed! The examiner laughed at me doing a power pose but I think it helped Grin

MsHomeSlice · 21/08/2018 08:23

GOOD LUCK!

RebootYourEngine · 21/08/2018 08:23

Good luck. Nerves are normal. Treat it like a normal lesson

EggbertHeartsTina · 21/08/2018 08:24

I did what Faith suggests above and I passed! Also chewed gum throughout, I found that helped massively.
I was absolutely terrified, after 3 epic fails when I was 21, I'd given up for 10 years. And then I passed! Best of luck!

dontknowwhattodo80 · 21/08/2018 08:25

Good luck @BigBumandMumTum !!

Tentomidnight · 21/08/2018 08:26

Good luck! There will be a loo at the test centre, that’s a good place to do your power pose Grin
I found that talking myself through the test in my head, in a calm way, helped. I even told myself to stay calm and keep going.
I also took my driving instructor as a passenger in the back, for moral support.

Good luck, if I can pass, you can pass!

lurkingfromhome · 21/08/2018 08:29

Good luck! I just thought of it as though I was giving the examiner a lift somewhere and refused to dwell on the test aspect. It was much less scary than I'd been expecting and about 5 minutes in I realised I was rather enjoying it. You can do this!

BigBumandMumTum · 21/08/2018 08:38

I'm in at 10.17, he's picking me up at 9.

I'm really nervous 😳

ilovetvandchocolates · 21/08/2018 08:43

Good luck, you'll be back later telling us you have passed!

OoohAyyye · 21/08/2018 08:46

This will be me in a couple of weeks!

Good luck OP!

MrsMozart · 21/08/2018 08:49

Good luck!

Wetwashing00 · 21/08/2018 08:51

Why don’t you tell someone?

Good luck, I’m sure you will reply later to say you’ve passed?

CherryBlossom23 · 21/08/2018 08:51

Good luck! It's never as bad as you think it is in your head. I honesty thought I'd failed mine because of a disastrous (to me) reverse around the corner and dodgy hill start (normally good but nerves got to me) and I actually passed! Just try to keep calm even if you feel like it's not going to plan.

BigBumandMumTum · 21/08/2018 08:53

Because failure is not an option in my family. If I tell them I failed they will take the piss for ever, like they still do to my dad who passed 25 years ago 😒

Gramgram · 21/08/2018 08:55

Good luck.

Cleanerswin · 21/08/2018 08:56

I totally get the family thing OP. Best of luck from the West Midlands!
