Will i be pregnant forever?

41 weeks today, the size of a house and so uncomfortable.

This is my first and my pregnancy has been awful - not health wise thankfully, but in terms of other stuff I’ve had to cope with. I just want it over, to meet my baby and start our life as a family!

It feels like everyone I’ve ever met keeps messaging me 20 times a day for ‘any news?’ and it makes me feel even more crap when I have to reply that nope nothing has changed!

I’ve had absolutely nothing. No mucus plug, no bloody show, no contractions. I’ve even given up nesting, I just break up the day by eating cake and napping, having nightmares about giving birth to a giant 15lb baby.

Please can someone share their story of having no signs of labour then it all happening quickly?! Or just reassure me that baby HAS to come out soon?

Did the MW manage to do a sweep?

If so, I wouldn't read too much into the mucus plug.
I had several sweeps with my first and second pregnancy. It always causes me to lose the MP but never actually helped me go into labour.

So. I’m afraid not much has changed. Spoken to the midwife, she said this can be the way with first babies. I just have to rest and eat properly and relax.

Spoke to my aunt earlier (retired midwife) who made me feel much better. She said every contraction, no matter how short or sporadic, is doing it’s job, thinning and dilating the cervix. She has to come out eventually!

11 days over and counting.

I would compare the sleep I get to the kind of very pissed dozing one might do in a nightclub around kicking out time. With an extremely mean bouncer squeezing my middle about every 20 mins.

I can’t eat much. My mum tried to tempt me with a McDonalds earlier, she almost fell over when I passed it up. Must unlike me.

My DS1 was due on August 17. He was born on September 1st. 😳 Turned our I had a cyst on my ovary which grew during my pregnant and stopped him dropping into the right position. It was great though, as it gave me the C-section that I'd really wanted (and they removed the cyst at the same time).

If it makes you feel any better, I had a sweep on Tuesday and the consultant said he'd expect me to deliver by the weekend as I was 2 cm dilated and everything looked good, later that day I lost my plug and ever since all I've had are strong Braxton-Hicks and a pissed off face.

It seems even if your cervix is dilating you still have to wait. I sincerely hope you have your baby in your arms soon, and can have a little smile that the never ending pregnancy is over.

So happy and relieved to say baby girl was born early this morning, weighing a respectable 7lbs 14oz. Water birth.

Hope pic attaches. Thanks for all your well wishes. I can’t believe I lived so long without her.
