Is there a 'what did you have or what are you having for (insert what your call your evening meal here) thread?

These always tend to be quite popular here so I thought I'd start one.
My dh is a chef, and occasionally he is off on a Sunday, and when he is we always have a roast (because we rarely get chance to).
Now of course I'm biased and think he is a brilliant cook, but today we had a roast, and it was the nicest roast I've had in a long time. As I say I always enjoy every meal he makes, but I'm struggling to remember the last time I enjoyed a roast as much as I've enjoyed the one we've just had.
I've now banished him from the kitchen as I refuse to let him wash dry and put away, and clean the kitchen, after preparing and cooking a full roast on his own (I can not cook at all so he would not want my help), even enough he tried to insist on helping me clean up.
So, what did everyone have or what will everyone be having today?

Bestie is coming round for dinner (Wink) and we're having tortellini for her (veggie) and chicken fillets and chips for me (carnivore)

Lynne1Cat · 19/08/2018 18:41

We haven't had dinner yet tonight, but it'll be a snack. We all (husband, me, 2 adult sons) all went for a lovely Sunday lunch at a gorgeous country pub. Roast pepper soup with crusty bread, then 3 of us had the roast beef with all the usual. One son had chicken skewers with chips and salad

I do love a Sunday roast!

We’re gett Chinese I think. Had friends here all weekend so feel like something easy!

PanPanPanPing · 19/08/2018 18:45

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, roast onions, leeks in cheese sauce, Yorkshires and gravy! First 'winter' type roast for months!

catenthusiast · 19/08/2018 18:47

I've been having train troubles so won't be in until late, so considering a takeaway or popping to a pub or something when I get to the right city! If not I think we have some tortellini in the fridge so that should be nice and easy.

Chicken korma, pilau rice, veg samosas, mixed pickle and raita.
Made at home, but not homemade (jar of sauce, packet of rice etc)

Flowersonthewall · 19/08/2018 18:51

We've had a massive Sunday lunch so kids have just had beans on toast and yoghurt for their tea, we will probably have some cheese and biscuits once they've gone to bed for supper Grin

A beef mincey, oniony, garlicky risotto.
(clearing out my freezer)

Was very tasty!

littlecabbage · 19/08/2018 18:53

Sausages, mash, broccoli, courgette and gravy. Yum!

lemony7 · 19/08/2018 18:53

We had a picnic in the garden for lunch and quesadillas for tea. I couldn’t be bothered to cook the curry we were supposed to have!

Eminybob · 19/08/2018 18:53

Roast chicken, new potatoes swimming in butter, veg.
I didn’t really fancy it, DH would have been happier with roast potatoes, DS refused to eat the chicken, so all in all, a real success! Grin

I have half a bar of Aldi whole nut choc in the fridge, and that’s what I’m looking forward to once DS is in bed.

I cooked roast pork , roast potatoes and parsnips, carrot/Swede mashed, braised red cabbage and steamed green cabbage. Apple crumble and custard for pudding. Ds1 invited some uni friends to stay, I don't think they have eaten for a while!

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, stuffing, carrot and swede mash, carrots, leeks, green beans and Crusty, Stilton topped cauli and broccoli, gravy and bread sauce. It’s all about the veg!

vampirethriller · 19/08/2018 19:19

I had two apricot yoghurts, some cucumber and a slice of fruit cake. I wanted a Sunday dinner but I live alone and it always seems a bit sad doing it for one!

macnab · 19/08/2018 19:20

We had lasagne (which I started making at 9:30am) with sakad

macnab · 19/08/2018 19:20
