Just that really.
I’m getting ready for holiday and so am putting together what we have left in relevant currency from last year, and I’ve just come across quite a few euro (we are not in U.K.) which I did not realise were there.
I feel slightly like I’ve won the lottery. It’s going into a rainy day tin.

I could probably scrape together about a fiver, if I have cash, I spend it. Grin

Usually not much, just a few coins. There is cash for paying cleaner in an envelope but thats allocated. I do have approx €50 in various notes and coins from last trip though.
We aren't really cash people though!

Strawberrybelly · 16/08/2018 16:16

About £2 in my purse I think.

cjt110 · 16/08/2018 16:19

Slummy in a coin jar. Thats it

isseywithcats · 16/08/2018 16:20

about 34 in change in my purse, a samll amount of less than ten pences in a penny jar and whatever is in OHs wallet no euros as i gave mine to a friend when she was going to a euro zone holiday destination last year

Blankiefan · 16/08/2018 16:21

There's about £200 in DD's piggy bank but thats unusual - we just sold some old baby stuff on gumtree and it's going into her bank account.

There's probably fifty quid in my purse and i reckon another fifty in tenners/twenties lying around (not lying around but places like my phone case where I keep an emergency twenty or my jewellery box where there's a random tenner for a reason I can't remember.)

And if I was really pushed, there's always an emergency tenner in the car.

Apparently we keep a lot of cash around for emergencies- no idea why. We don't have lots of cash emergencies and I'd say we never have cash when we need it (im always having to dash to the cash machine to pay the gardener, etc)

Blankiefan · 16/08/2018 16:22

And I've just remembered 250 euroes in the filing cabinet from a previous holiday. We thought we'd hold onto it for next time.

BonnieF · 16/08/2018 16:25

I travel quite a bit for work so there are always a couple of hundred €, $ or both lying around.

Bubblemagic11 · 16/08/2018 16:25

Zilch., maybe there's a tenner in my purse and a few quid in a coin jar

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 16/08/2018 16:27

About €300 and about £100 - I live in fear of losing my purse (again, although it's been years).

FlatPackFurnitureCompAnyone · 16/08/2018 16:27

This would be a great basis for a DM piece about whether the nation’s mothers are putting themselves at risk by leaving large amounts of cash around for burglars. Just saying Wink

Flooffloof · 16/08/2018 16:28

An amazing amount. Last year we had an emergency vet bill.
It was thousands, but without looking too hard I found 800 Pounds in the house.
The rest of the bill went on the credit card, but finding so much money was an eye opener for me.
I think if I looked right now I could probably find a few hundred.
Me who has always been broke, I still don't understand how.

WhatHaveIFound · 16/08/2018 16:29

In my purse i have £25 in notes and a few bits of change and in my desk drawer i have $30 and €55.

In the back of my phone case I keep an emergency £10.

starryeyed19 · 16/08/2018 16:29

Blimey. Am starting to worry about not having any emergency cash now

YeTalkShiteHen · 16/08/2018 16:30

When we were taking our old sofa to the tip DP had a good dig abojt in the bottom of it and came up with £52.31! We’d had it 8 years Grin

Now? Feck all.

GandolfBold · 16/08/2018 16:30

About £150 in a sealed tin and £40in a piggy bank I save my £2 coins in.

Seniorschoolmum · 16/08/2018 16:31

What’s In my purse plus if I’m really desperate, and the cash point network has crashed - I could raid ds’s piggybank. Blush

Seniorschoolmum · 16/08/2018 16:32

Ooh and US$ 43

viccat · 16/08/2018 16:35

I try to have about £50 at all times - my parents drummed that lesson into my head about having emergency cash for cabs etc...

PowerPlayed · 16/08/2018 16:35

Usually a couple of 100 in various foreign currencies due to frequent work travel.

DS (12) usually has about 150 tucked away, teen daughter, me and husband can barely scrape together a fiver Confused

LongSummerDays · 16/08/2018 16:36

A wallet of euros, coin purse of euro shrapnel, I've got about £100 and OH has similar.

RomanyRoots · 16/08/2018 16:37

about 5k it's well hidden and isn't going anywhere until we have enough for our car fund.

SecondTimeCharm · 16/08/2018 16:38

couple of quid emptied out of pockets before the laundry goes on and maybe £10 in DD’s piggybank

we both hate cash and live as cash free of an existence as possible. i use apple pay almost all the time

applesauce1 · 16/08/2018 16:40

Can actually answer this accurately after last night's excitement!
Our savings are in premium bonds. Usually, this suits us really well, although they take at least 2 days to draw down.
Over saved at the start of the month and realised we were in unplanned overdraft yesterday. Needed to pay the cleaner today, so I was in a total panic!

Emptied out all the money boxes, old purses, drawers and pots around the house.
Scraped together £28 in small change and have at least another tenner in coppers and 5s.

I whizzed to Tesco this morning to get notes! Didn't pay the cleaner in 10ps!!
