Very excited. I'm having my first trip to Aldi tomorrow. What goodies do I need?

Chocolateismyvice · 16/08/2018 19:14

Nothing... everything is shit and bland.

Sorry, I lied. Chocolate, that's the only decent thing.

Not a snob at all. I shop in Lidl. Far better quality in Lidl.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/08/2018 19:18

Their dry gin was rated very highly in the Telegraph gin tasting tests and it’s delicious.

£14 a litre.

SummerStrong · 16/08/2018 19:32

I would avoid all fruit & veg (goes off before you even get home)
Also avoid the ketchup & chocolate spread

Do buy:
Wine
Chocolate
Biscuits
Brioches
Pasta & sauces
Microwaveable rice
Frozen desserts
Cheeses
Cold meats
Pizza's

The Q10 night and day creams. The day cream is spf20. Own brand salt and vinegar Pringles. Dishwasher tabs and their laundry washing gel liquid.

Elisebev · 16/08/2018 19:40

Whitebait (no prizes for guessing what’s for dinner tonight)

Dominion fruit chews (just discovered them tonight)

Their fruit is good

Their smoked salmon is amazing

Enjoythesilence · 16/08/2018 19:45

I second the Q10 day cream. Their hot cloth cleanser is very good too but my local one doesn’t always have it, I have to wait for it to appear in the aisle of wonder.

The brioche burger buns are nice.

mrsoutnumbered · 16/08/2018 19:56

@SummerStrong agree on their ketchup, it is vile!

Shartnado · 16/08/2018 20:34

Nappies
Monster Roth choc
Caramelised onion sausages
Butter chicken curry sauce jar
Beef and pork half and half mince
Sweet potato fries
Laundry stuff is really good
Chunky frozen chips in the black bag
DH loves the thick and creamy yoghurts
4 pack Scottish tiffin squares

Shartnado · 16/08/2018 20:35

Avoid the ketchup and mayo, it's ming

Tortycat · 16/08/2018 20:43

nappies and wipes are great
chocolate esp moser roth
crisps and biscuits
fake cherrios and alpen
tampons
suncream

in fact the only things i wouldnt recommend are:

  • fish fingers (always split open so ds wont eat them)
  • frozen chips have more additives etc than McCain's
  • cheddar cheese not so good.
MollyCule · 16/08/2018 20:46

Groovy Bars. Trust me. In the biscuit section.

As lots of people have said the chocolate kns excellent too.

nellierose · 16/08/2018 20:47

Halloumi cheese fries from the frozen section are lovely and cook in 8 mins

saganorenscarandcoat · 16/08/2018 21:02

Belgian chocolate mousse. The most delicious thing ever.

nellierose · 16/08/2018 21:10

Also salmon fillets that you microwave are lovely
And the fake crunch corners
I haven’t had too much success with a lot of fruit and veg there but absolutely love everything else

dontknowwhattodo80 · 16/08/2018 21:19

Groovy/milkshake biscuits
Fresh rice puddings
Pizza toppings- pepperoni/mozzarella etc
Pizzas
Some fruit/ salad
Dishwasher tablets
Hand wash
Shower gel
Tear brioche ( chocolate particularly nice)
Brioche burger buns
Take away biscuits

AngelsAckiz · 16/08/2018 21:49

Check out the isle of dreams! So much crazy fun stuff there

AngelsAckiz · 16/08/2018 21:49

Also winking owl wine is LUSH. In white and red! Stock up!

QueenOfMyWorld · 16/08/2018 21:54

Chimichuri olives in the fridge section.heaven

MrsMrsMrsMrs · 16/08/2018 22:04

Salmon in Thai marinade
Purple pack mature cheddar
Frozen Salmon en croute with cheese sauce
Earl grey (not too flowery and just how I like it)

In fact fish and cheese is pretty much all great

Their roast beef is much nicer than Tesco/Asda etc

Oaties (fake hobnobs)

I’ve never had a bad Sauvignon from there

Austin’s - fake Pimms is so cheap
and so good, they do a fab strawberry one too

Frozen pudding like the plum crumble topped pie

tappitytaptap · 16/08/2018 22:07

Smoked salmon, flavoured fizzy water, rosemary foccacia rolls, sliced meats and cheeses, fishcakes, corned beef crispbakes, lentil curl crisps, small pots of rhubarb yoghurt, flavoured milks, nappies and wipes. Getting round in half the time of another supermarket is great too!

overandunder9 · 16/08/2018 22:09

The wagyu beef burgers are great.

MyAuntyBadger · 16/08/2018 22:19

Avoid their 'Snackrite' products (crisps). They're Snackwrong.

Aldi ice cream and luxury biscuits are lovely. Meat and fish is really good (but check the dates).

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 16/08/2018 22:31

Pesto rosso - mix it with creme fraiche and either use it as a dip or stir into hot pasta - yummmm

JiltedJohnsJulie · 16/08/2018 22:34

I love Snackrite!

Crumblevision · 16/08/2018 22:40

Not sure if it has been mentioned but the choc brioche loaf in a silver tray. It is like crack.

Greek yoghurt, raisin and almond granola, their own Nutella tastes the same to me, all the cheese, fridge puds, nz sauv blanc
