And why?

Such a cheery thread

About 20 mins ago. I have bleached everything and had a shower, now feel a bit better. Don't know what caused it as nobody else is ill and I didn't have any alcohol. My stomach feels weird

rainbowfudgee · 16/08/2018 01:07

Just now I really wanted my mum. Then I realised that I am the mum and I'd better start cleaning up the bathroom. Ugh. (Had just woken up).

checkedcloth · 16/08/2018 05:19

This thread has got me thinking. I was last sick Friday night having drunk way too much. I would say that I’m sick every few months as a result of alcohol.
I know I drink too much

A few weeks back, after I had given birth.

Bubblemagic11 · 16/08/2018 05:44

I’ve never thrown up in my life, not even when pregnant. Don’t know why as everyone seems to have at one time or another.

BelfastSmile · 16/08/2018 05:54

@Bubblemagic11 my dad says he's never vomited either. Some people are more resistant to tummy bugs, apparently.

tsonlyme · 16/08/2018 05:57

About an hour ago. Have cancer.

lydiarose · 16/08/2018 06:03

Round about 1959 when I was about 7. I remember it very well. My dad had taken me swimming and I got a chill. I stood at the top of the stairs and vomited all down them. Never been sick since, even when pregnant with twins. I do have a phobia about vomit - DH had to clear up when the children were sick.

panago · 16/08/2018 06:18

Actual vomit? 2008 I believe when pregnant with dd1. I've dry heaved since when pregnant. I am phobic so will do anything to avoid.

People who are resistant.....how do you know? You've actually had tests done? If so, which tests? so I can see what my resistance is.

NicoAndTheNiners · 16/08/2018 06:29

Last week. Felt absolutely fine and five seconds later I’m vomiting everywhere with no warning, vomit coming out my nose job. Was sick twice that morning and then ok.

PickAChew · 16/08/2018 07:30

I can have the whole family chucking their guts up and be fine, myself. About 1/5 of people are resistant, apparently.

panago · 16/08/2018 07:41

Do you think I'm resistant if I usually get diarrhea while the rest of the family throw up?

rainbowfudgee · 16/08/2018 07:42

Argh I think this is gastritis. Feels like a brick in my stomach... I had 2 hours' sleep in the end but feel awful today.

tsonlyme Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Are you having chemo? Flowers

AnxiousMunchkin · 16/08/2018 07:46

About 2-3 weeks ago. I switched meds (ads) to a new one which was to cure all my problems, having tried everything else..... sadly I literally couldn’t stomach it and would vomit around an hour later. Even if on an empty stomach. I persevered for well over a month to see if I could build tolerance, tried different times of day etc, but it wasn’t getting better. Really disappointed.

CoodleMoodle · 16/08/2018 07:56

In April. I was 24ish weeks pregnant with DS and had a horrendous cold DD caught at preschool. She hardly suffered but I did! Worst cold I've had in years, my nose might as well not have existed it was so blocked. One night I just couldn't breathe and coughed so much I threw up everywhere. It was awful.

TiffinBox · 16/08/2018 07:56

A week ago but only a little bit and then a few days later I found out I'm pregnant with dc3.

Before that was 3 years ago after the most horrific 4 day migraine. I actually wanted to shoot myself in the head to stop the pain. That's how bad it was. Sad

DollyWilde · 16/08/2018 07:59

A fortnight ago on the final night of our honeymoon - dodgy oyster Blush A romantic night it was not.

Had been trying to remember the last time before that, I assume it was drink related but it was definitely before we moved to this flat, so it’s over 2 years ago.

Howhot · 16/08/2018 08:02

I can't remember but it will have been alcohol induced. Before that, Labour in 2013. I never get sickness bugs.

SconNotScone · 16/08/2018 08:54

The evening of Dec 30th 2010. I was staying at my parents house for the Christmas period, but due to return to my own city he next day to work a night shift on NYE (nurse). Two of my other colleagues also got the D&V, so we assumed it was a bug. I felt so awful to call in sick for a NYE night shift! But i’ve never felt so unwell in my life, I was hallucinating and my body ached like never before!

Prior to that, I can’t really remember. I think probably alcohol-induced as a teenager on holiday in Corfu, circa summer 2000.

I have a bit of anxiety around vomiting, so if anyone else in the house gets unwell, I start to stress about it, but thankfully i’ve managed to avoid anything recently.

Pinkvoid · 16/08/2018 08:55

Three months ago, ‘morning’ sickness...

Before that it was 1.5 years ago, too much booze Grin.

SconNotScone · 16/08/2018 08:55

Oh no, hang on, I had some dodgy risotto in Barcelona, and had a night of vomiting. Can’t remember the year - maybe 2008 or 2009.

mamaduckbone · 16/08/2018 08:58

The day after my niece’s wedding - part hangover part d&v bug I think as ds had been ill a few days before. But then I did drink rather a lot of champagne Wink

Ollivander84 · 16/08/2018 09:01

About 8 years ago maybe? Norovirus

Dumbledoresgirl · 16/08/2018 09:02

A couple of times circa 1987, when I was a student and twice my parents took me out for a nice meal and I ate over rich foods that made me vomit later.

Before that, 1974, with a tummy bug.

I don't get sick.
