(But tentatively looking forward to autumn.)

I felt a bit less sweaty than last time. Hot and muggy here today. Supposed to be 17 and rainy here tomorrow, though! Hurrah!

@pickle can the plasterboard wall have a chunk cut out for ventilation?

When we moved in here, I was so puzzled by how hot it was, in late winter, I looked at building info. I'm not an expert by any stretch but ventilation seems to be about windows and that's it. Then the insulation regs stunned me, as I say, fine if based on the idea of using no heating but air con, but otherwise no.

We have cladding and post Grenfell the mgmt co resent everyone a copy of the certificate to show its fireproof, but then when I looked up cladding I realised how much that heats the place.

I'm actually someone who really feels the cold, believe it or not! Before, We lived in a house that predated crazy insulation so I had lined slippers, several cardigans and a heavy winter duvet before living here. It wasn't cold, just average.

It was ten minutes from here so urban heat issues were basically the same.

PickleNeedsAFriendInReading · 19/08/2018 21:54

unfortunately not, as the wall in between has the kitchen and bathroom.

It has been designed to keep the heat in during the winter, and has various eco-credentials, apparently! (Sadly it's a very inefficient system, so although it was meant to be eco-friendly, it's costing us a fortune in the end, as it uses much more gas than they expected, so probably not as eco-friendly as they think, either).

And we can use all sorts of extra electriciy on air con or fans or whatever people in individual flats decide, but because that's paid for individually, it won't take away from the eco-credentials that they probably got lots of government grants for.

LighthouseSouth · 19/08/2018 22:12

@Pickle some friends who are leaving London were talking about an eco home

I'd prefer a boring old fashioned set up with a traditional central heating system totally in my control. But def anywhere we live next will have to have air con - unless it's a cave!!

FurryDice · 20/08/2018 05:30

No air already and it’s only 5.30 am

forecast for coming week is suddenly looking a lot better

mostly 21s, couple of 23s, just hope they are telling the truth as yesterday's forecast was confirmed as bollox later on!

Yesterdayizdone1 · 20/08/2018 12:47

Yay

hugoagogo · 20/08/2018 14:33

The BBC weather app says it's 21°, but 'feels like' 24 and they're not far off! I have been out for a couple of hours and got home and had to peel my clothes off me!Sad
The good news is it's supposed to be cooler overnight at the end of the week.

Yesterdayizdone1 · 20/08/2018 14:43

Oh no :(
Loose light clothes are best
They don't stick as much when your sweaty

Hercy · 20/08/2018 14:54

Muggy as fuck today. I am disgustingly sweaty. Bleurgh.

Looks to be getting a lot better by Thursday.

Yesterdayizdone1 · 20/08/2018 15:00

Oh no hercy

Look forward to Thursday
Not long now

Notlostjustexploring · 20/08/2018 15:01

Muggy as fuck is definitely the word.

I was lured by false promises. It's grey, and cloudy, and there is a breeze. 20 minutes after doing some light pottering/laundry etc the sweat is lashing out of me. Definitely warmer than it looks.

Unimpressed.

Yesterdayizdone1 · 20/08/2018 15:07

Oh dear
:(
The U.K. Is a very humid country

FurryDice · 20/08/2018 16:36

25 here today, then 26s Tuesday and weds. So bloody muggy.

What's all this crap about another heatwave over bank holiday weekend? Been reported in the papers today, I really hope they're wrong as I thought it's supposed to be cooling down by the end of the week?

Yesterdayizdone1 · 20/08/2018 16:44

There doesn't seem to be a heatwave return in Sussex
19c for Monday bank holiday

Not showing a heatwave on my apps currently, squirrel but it is showing signs of warming up after that weekend. I hope the papers are totally wrong

Apparently we could have a heat wave well into autumn

I am almost certain this type of weather will become normal
We really need our homes to be able to cope with it ... and work places
