How many times do we have to tell you? Yes we still all hate summer!

(But tentatively looking forward to autumn.)

I felt a bit less sweaty than last time. Hot and muggy here today. Supposed to be 17 and rainy here tomorrow, though! Hurrah!

I think I was in the shower! I got four hours kip before I needed to get up for church. Now I feel really awake, but I also want a nap! And I need to do more packing. I ordered some boxes from Wilkos on Monday and they're still not here! I doubt they will be till at least Tuesday. If they're not here by then I'm phoning up to complain! (I've actually had stuff from China take less time, and I got something from Spain in three days!)

SapphireSeptember · 26/08/2018 13:35

Same, currently living for the next Fantastic Beasts film to come out. I didn't see the first one, but I'm definitely seeing this one at the cinema, even though things are annoying me already!

hugoagogo · 26/08/2018 13:48

I saw Fantastic Beasts at the cinema and was not convinced either by, either Eddie Redmayne- too drippy or all the cgi- such a departure from HP and jarring. I enjoyed the book much more though and will probably go and see 2 when it comes out.
Glad of the cool again today, but poor dd will be getting so muddy at Leeds Fest.Sad

ToothTrauma · 26/08/2018 15:46

It’s cold here. And raining. I’m in heaven Grin

StrangeLookingParasite · 26/08/2018 15:56

Two 27's and a 29 coming up for us in the next 10 days. Le sigh.

BagelGoesWalking · 26/08/2018 17:23

Has only just stopped raining and I'm wearing a jumper! Came off when I got too hot but back on again. The heating even came on for a very short time. Highest temp all week is 22. 😬

FurryDice · 26/08/2018 18:08

Sympathies @StrangeLookingParasite

I was also put off Fantastic Beasts by Eddie Redmayne. He was great as Stephen Hawking but other than that I find him irritating to watch

I'm a voice of dissent, I love Eddie Redmayne! I find it interesting that he's one of the people who's in the same Hogwarts house as their character, Hufflepuff, like me! (Alan Rickman was Slytherin, as is Tom Felton I believe, Daniel Radcliffe is a Gryffindor. I love that kind of symmetry.) Not a HP actor but Kit Harrington raised my ire by saying "No one wants to be in Hufflepuff." Well, The Rock is, and he's brilliant. I knew I was a Hufflepuff before I did the quiz on Pottermore. Grin

It's been so cold and wet today! Strange departure from the usual. I went for a nap and woke up with very cold feet, but I briefly got to catch a glimpse of the moon through the clouds! I love the full moon, I bask in it. Moonbathing, I suppose. Makes me feel energised.

FurryDice · 27/08/2018 07:15

Holy fucking shit. There is a ‘has anyone put the heating on?’ thread. Ffs. Some bemoaning how the rain is fucking with their gardens.

Wtf is wrong with people? It’s hardly fucking Siberia

Much cooler today and feels good. It's made me realise just how much the heatwave affected me. It absolutely floored me and I was incapable of doing anything. My skin and asthma hated it and I still have dry, rough/red patches where my glasses sit on my nose. (Have seen quite a few say the same re the glasses).

FurryDice · 27/08/2018 13:37

and I’ve realised how little housework I’ve been doing for months. The entire place is due a massive blitz. I just could not face it in all that heat.

My house is a state too Furry. I’ve been doing bits here and there but it needs a good scrub top to bottom! I see some higher temps lurking about for next weekend Hmm so I’d better do it this week.

My mum has had her heating on. She just feels the cold, she can’t help it. Mind you I like to remind her that when she was going through menopause the house was like an icebox and she just used to tell me to put on another jumper Grin

Becca19962014 · 27/08/2018 14:36

You dropped off my I'm on list! So sorry for not posting!!

It's so much more bearable here, though sadly its looking like my problems haven't been as temporary as I'm still unwell despite it being much cooler. It's much easier now for me to go out, but I'm still needing huge amounts of rest and having seizures.

Room got down to 19c yesterday!!!!

Yes I saw the heating thread, I was with someone the other day complaining that their family had been to visit in the dreadful awful weather we've had over the last week or so. I was Shock and said that it's not been much below 20c here, though it was Saturday and yesterday, and yes we've had mist and some rain but it's hardly been a horrendous wet horrible summer except for a few days I'm hearing people now complaining about!

It's lovely to start seeing leaves on the ground. I love, love, love Autumn!!

hugoagogo · 27/08/2018 14:57

My house is a total tip too, not sure I can blame the weatherBlush

SapphireSeptember · 27/08/2018 17:39

Oh yes, the 'summer is over' brigade. Well, it is nearly September! You had roughly two months of scorching temperatures and hardly any rain! I must admit I turned the heating on this morning, but only because my clothes aren't drying properly (it's on the lowest setting, I can barely feel it.) If it was really cold I'd have shut my window. I've noticed there always seems to be a cold spell towards the end of August then it warms up for a bit in September.

FurryDice · 27/08/2018 18:08

Yes it appears to be heating up again from next weekend onwards.

I realised earlier I’d been posting (ranting) about a thread so reported myself before anyone did it for me.

Had a nice peaceful bank holiday Monday here - not! Some bastard alarm has been going off all fucking day! Ugh this place. I really have to get out of here.

Good to see you back, Becca.

i Know I live in a hotbox now, but even in my last place I’d seldom put the heating on before November unlesss it was really, really cold. It’s not that I don’t feel the cold at all - in fact in that last flat I used to have two hot water bottles in bed with me (sometimes three if it was very cold!) - it’s just I’m of the ‘put another layer on first’, brigade.

Notlostjustexploring · 27/08/2018 19:14

I can sort of get some people putting the heating on. My parents live on a hill in the West of Scotland in a very well ventilated house and their summer has been over for a while, so I imagine they might have had it on by now. It probably is getting rather nippy there some nights.

The neighbour whose woodburner or open fire I can now smell however....honestly, there are no words. We're in t-shirts still and have all the windows open trying to keep the house temperature under 20.

I'm currently in the process of dealing with three months of very minimal housework and cleaning. It's not pretty. Multiple laundry piles of doom. Don't think my home has ever been so bad at any point during my adult life...

Glad to have you back Becca, and high five for a sub 20degC room!! (although I'm very sorry the cooler weather hasn't brought improvements to your health)

FurryDice · 28/08/2018 18:11

This coming weekend is looking horrible. 23 Saturday then Sunday and Monday both 25. I’ve looked at the accuweather forecast for September and it’s all definitely warmer than usual.

I suppose I can cope as long as those are the last 25s.

It does feel strange hating sunny weather so much. I was never this bad before I lived in this flat; I only dreaded the 29 and 30s.

I wish you could all move here! Went out today and everyone was moaning about our "shitty" and "dreadful" summer Shock

Becca19962014 · 28/08/2018 18:47

I made a fool of myself, the sun threatened to come out and I yelled at it not to dare, then noticed there were people around Blush opps!

Notlostjustexploring · 28/08/2018 19:31

Went out today and everyone was moaning about our "shitty" and "dreadful" summer

To be fair that's exactly what we've all been doing on these threads....Grin

Becca19962014 · 28/08/2018 19:38

true....

but we're not moaning about it being freezing cold for the whole summer are we? It hasnt and isnt freezing cold! It's 20c here! That's not freezing.
