Fuck. Just fell over and I’m 18 weeks pregnant.

DC had dropped a cup of water on the tiled floor and I didn’t see and went flying. Broke my glasses, smashed my iPhone, not that I’m bothered but just to give an idea of the force.

Landed on my side and have a massive mark on my face that’s going to bruise. I’m on clexane for previous miscarriage and I’m terrified I’ve hurt the twins.

I’m going to call my hospital but if this happened to anyone else and they were okay I’d like to hear it.

They are well cushioned in there. I had a big fall at around 12 weeks, now 20 weeks and all seems to be fine from the scans.
Don’t panic, your body will have taken the force of the fall!

BellaAmora · 12/08/2018 11:37

I fell down the stairs at 15 weeks. My son is now 13 and fine x

PotteringAlong · 12/08/2018 11:38

You won’t have hurt them, they’re well protected and your ribs etc will have taken the full force of the fall. Flowers

emmaluggs · 12/08/2018 11:42

I fell down the stairs at about 20 weeks and my 10 month old is now sofa surfing as I type! They are well cushioned but I understand your fear.

Good call ringing the hospital as they’ll be best placed to put your mind at rest.

Jozxyqk · 12/08/2018 11:43

Call the hospital, they will give you reassurance.

I fainted numerous times while pregnant - Barely a day went by when I didn't collapse, occasionally with quite a crunch as I fell, & some impressive bruises, between about 20 - 33 weeks. DD is completely fine.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 12/08/2018 11:44

Obviously you need to get yourself checked over but I took a fall at work at around 21 weeks pregnant with DS2 and we were both fine despite it.

Let us know how you get on after getting checked out.

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 12/08/2018 11:44

Thank you.

My wrist has swollen up and appears broken. Don’t think they can X-ray it anyway.

Anythingforacatslife · 12/08/2018 11:46

They will X-ray your wrist. Take care but I’m sure all will be fine when you’ve been checked out properly.

SoyDora · 12/08/2018 11:46

They’ll x-ray your wrist if they suspect a break.

knicksfan · 12/08/2018 11:48

I fell when I was about 20 weeks.
Dd is now being investigated for cerebral palsy or a stroke. She also had a difficult birth but it's on my mind.
I would go and get checked.

NC4Now · 12/08/2018 11:50

You poor thing. I’m sure you’ll be ok but it’s scary.
I went A over T down the cellar stairs at 34 weeks. Bruised, but totally fine.
At the other end of the spectrum, I was born two weeks early when my mum slipped on some ice and broke her waters! We’re also both completely fine (and spared a Christmas birthday too).

OhHelp0hNo · 12/08/2018 11:56

I fell and broke my leg at 28 weeks pregnant, baby was totally fine and is now a troublesome 20 month old!
Hope you're ok OP. No harm in getting checked if you're worried Thanks

PotteringAlong · 12/08/2018 11:58

They can x-ray it. They’ll put some sort of cover over your tummy probably.

RB68 · 12/08/2018 11:59

you can have xrays when pregnant - they shield you if they can or limit exposure to the minimum.

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 12/08/2018 12:00

Rang the hospital and they want me to go in for a check. Will let you all know.

doleritedinosaur · 12/08/2018 12:01

You can have the arm x-rayed, they put a very heavy apron over bump. I’ve had a chest x-ray while pregnant.

Go & get checked out. I’m sure they can do more to reassure you.

OhHelp0hNo · 12/08/2018 12:01

Yes they can x-ray you. I had several x-rays after I broke my leg, they put a shield over your tummy. Just make sure you tell the radiographer you're pregnant, mine almost did the X-ray without the shield, even though I was quite obviously heavily pregnant!

BobblyBits · 12/08/2018 12:24

My Aunty fell down stairs at home at around 20 weeks pregnant and broke her leg. Baby was fine. It was very hard pregnancy for her but baby was fine and 8lb 12oz! She then went on to have non-ID twins. Her leg did bother her in the twin pregnancy but she’s fine now.

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 12/08/2018 12:44

Gone in to the maternity unit and they’re talking about scanning me but I’m just waiting for them to decide. Wrist is bruised but has some movement so I’ll see if that calms down, it’s swollen.

OP posts:
BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 12/08/2018 13:11

The twins are okay Smile we saw them both. Thank you everyone.

OP posts:
spiderlight · 12/08/2018 13:13

Thank goodness they're OK. Make sure you get yourself checked out as well though. Have you told them about your wrist?

Summerof2018 · 12/08/2018 13:15

Whilst you're there, get the rest of you checked out as well OP.

formerbabe · 12/08/2018 13:16

I fell with full force onto my bump when I was about 8 months pregnant...I tripped over the base of the safety gate on my ds's room...My dd is 7 now so all was well. It is a horrible shock though.

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 12/08/2018 13:17

I showed them my wrist but as I can move it I think it’s just bruised. I’ve got a massive bruise on my face but otherwise I think I am fine!

OP posts:
Summerof2018 · 12/08/2018 13:18

With taking Clexane I would still get the rest of you checked.
