If you could live anywhere along the coast in the UK...

...where would it be? I’m fantasy house shopping so money is no object. I’ve got about ten billion pretend pounds (about three real pounds).

Somwhere Along or near New quay Wales or lulworth Dorset.

malfoyy · 12/08/2018 21:27

Gower or North Devon.

Mum2jenny · 12/08/2018 21:28

Skye or something remote on the west coast of Scotland like the mull of kintyre or somewhere on Isla

TheHauntedFishtank · 12/08/2018 21:30

Orkney and/or Cromarty I think.

dementedma · 12/08/2018 21:32

another vote for Orkney

We're in the fortunate position of being about to relocate. We can go anywhere we fancy but I have to say it is really hard to choose. Most of the lovely places inland, but especially on the coast, are so full of tourists that we wouldnt want to live there.

There's a house for sale which overlooks a beautiful bay we absolutely love, but it will be rammed in summertime sadly.

Brancaster Staithe.
Pembrokeshire.
Dorset - Worth Matravers for a village, Lyme Regis for a town.

storynanny · 12/08/2018 21:58

I second Croyde, my childhood and teenage holiday favourite place.
In reality I already live on the south coast although not a tourist place.

Sevendown · 12/08/2018 21:59

Fife or South Harris or Skye or Argyll

Therewere5inthebed · 12/08/2018 22:01

Porlock Weir, slightly up the hill though due to the common high tides.

Having just toured our beautiful country (Scotland) I'm torn between Durness, up the very top of Scotland and Stromness in Orkney. Think I'd go for Durness. Beach and farm land, no bugger there! Bliss!

goodbyestranger · 12/08/2018 22:07

I live in a beautiful old village right on the coast (five minutes walk through a field to the completely unspoiled beach) and am delighted that no-one has mentioned it :)

NetofLemons · 12/08/2018 22:11

Great thread! I’d happily move to live in the west of Ireland for sandy beaches . but if it had to be in the UK, i would say somewhere on the north Wales coast with a distant view of Snowdonia would be really beautiful.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 12/08/2018 22:14

Plockton

hotcrossbun99 · 12/08/2018 23:07

The Isle of Man, I'm trying to make it happen in the next couple of years.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 12/08/2018 23:19

Penzance, my home town, or Coverack. I'm a far west Cornish maid it's in my blood. I live in Plymouth though and feel very lucky to be minutes away from breath taking coastlines. The narrow road to downderru that drops away to sheer cliff and emerald sea is incredible

SheriffCallie · 12/08/2018 23:20

I’d choose where we live now. Antrim Coast/Glens, but close enough to Belfast for job opportunities.

Oh2beatsea · 13/08/2018 00:48

The lovely Southwold in Suffolk 🏖

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 13/08/2018 08:02

Northumberland. Just missed out on a lovely one between the Blyth and Wansbeck. We'd prefer something up past Amble, but a) price and b) commuting would be an arse. Mind you, there's a couple of real beauties in Cresswell.

Lessstressedhemum · 13/08/2018 08:36

The Western Isles or the NW coast of Scotland.

WerewolvesNotSwearwolves · 13/08/2018 08:45

For a holiday home, somewhere in the north-west of Scotland.
To live, St Andrews or maybe Dornoch. Both are lovely with beautiful beaches.

Armi · 13/08/2018 09:06

I agree with Holymountain - Alnmouth, Northumberland. Would move there immediately if I could.

StayAChild · 13/08/2018 10:09

Sandbanks won't exist in a few years time. Canford Cliffs.

Shock All those multi million pound houses. We love the Canford cliffs area too. Branksome Chine and Alum Chine are lovely. We'd better go again soon while we can still walk to Sandbanks!

Appley Beach at Ryde, IOW is a place I'd like a house. It's a mere 10 mins on the hovercraft from Ryde to the mainland. Had our first stay on IOW a few weeks ago and it was amazing. Not sure what it would be like in winter.
