Rude word on Dd's homework

Fishcalledlola · 03/04/2018 18:22

Dd is 6 and practising phonics for a test in June. To test the children understand phonics and are not just good at reading, they are tested on 'alien' words as well as real ones.
Unfortunately one of the 'alien' words is real and pretty rude in my opinion.
Should I tell the (male) teacher or would you accept it as a word that isn't really in a 6 year olds vocabulary?

Apparently I have the vocabulary of a six year old. Which word is it that is rude and what does it mean?

Omg!!!! Would love to know the background to this! Do you reckon he asked a mate for a made up word??

WeAreGerbil · 03/04/2018 18:26

Grin I think it depends on the teacher, but I'd be tempted to mention it just for fun!

TERFragetteCity · 03/04/2018 18:27

There is no way he doesn't know that word is rude.

Fattymcfaterson · 03/04/2018 18:27

Oh god that hilarious! 😂 😂
I think I'd leave it. Do you really want to have to explain what quim is 😂 😂 😂

ClangerTwanger · 03/04/2018 18:27

I don’t know which is the rude word either! Blush Shooch.. ?? I’m confused 😂

Mel0Dram4 · 03/04/2018 18:27

I didn't know what this word meant and suggested it to my then preteen son in a words with friends game with a hpmeschooling mum. She thought it was hilarious but I was very apologetic.
I would let him know for future reference!

PurpleDaisies · 03/04/2018 18:27

That isn’t set by the teacher, it’s a government made phonics test.

Scribblegirl · 03/04/2018 18:27

Oh gosh that's brilliant Grin

Teacher clearly doesn't know. Don't think I could bring myself to have that conversation...

WeAreGerbil · 03/04/2018 18:27

It used to be the name of a lesbian magazine!

Bombardier25966 · 03/04/2018 18:27

Quim? It's a woman's genitals, hardly rude and not something that a six year old will pick up on unless you point it out.

qazxc · 03/04/2018 18:27

I don't know which one is rude either Blush

ClangerTwanger · 03/04/2018 18:27

I googled quim.. I have been enlightened 😂

Tinseltower · 03/04/2018 18:27

Quim is a vulgar word for a vagina. Similar to cunt.

Lweji · 03/04/2018 18:27

Why is the teacher's sex relevant?

I also want to know the word, so any excuse to placemark.

Halo
Scribblegirl · 03/04/2018 18:27

Oh god @purpledaisies really? I didnt think it was possible to think less of DfE until now!

Lweji · 03/04/2018 18:28

Ahhhhhhhhhh! Got it.

viques · 03/04/2018 18:28

Looks like the teacher had a lucky escape with huck as well!

xyzandabc · 03/04/2018 18:29

Nope, sorry I don't know which word you're talking about. They all look made up to me.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 03/04/2018 18:29

Well at least it wasn't hairy.....

😂

fuzzyduck33 · 03/04/2018 18:29

Oh that's brilliant!! Please tell him and report back 😂😂

JediStoleMyBike · 03/04/2018 18:30

😂

Lweji · 03/04/2018 18:31

It's also a common short form for Joaquim in Portugal.
I'll snigger every time anyone uses it now.
