Rude word on Dd's homework

Dd is 6 and practising phonics for a test in June. To test the children understand phonics and are not just good at reading, they are tested on 'alien' words as well as real ones.
Unfortunately one of the 'alien' words is real and pretty rude in my opinion.
Should I tell the (male) teacher or would you accept it as a word that isn't really in a 6 year olds vocabulary?

I really don't want the conversation, he's a lovely teacher.
I honestly only know myself as its a scrabble high scorer!
Have torn the page off Dd's homework now.

6 year olds aren't going to have a clue what that word means, and as this thread has shown, a lot of parents won't either. I wouldn't mention anything. I think it would just be an embarrassing situation, especially if the teacher hasn't a clue, and you have to explain the meaning.

It's a really old fashioned term. Nobody uses it anymore.

PurpleDaisies · 03/04/2018 18:31

Yes scribble, look her for last year’s one and you’ll recognise the format.

That’s just an old one that’s been given for homework.

I wish that “queep” was “qweef” too Grin

AlmostStace · 03/04/2018 18:32

It's fairly obscure, but not completely obsolete - Joss Whedon got away with having Loki call Black Widow a "mewling quim" in Avengers Assemble because not everyone would know exactly what was meant by it.

But I would say something, if only because I wouldn't be able to resist embarrassing the fuck out of the teacher!

DailyWailSucksSnails · 03/04/2018 18:32

I never heard of Quim, before. Happy to have discovered my inner six year old :).

weaselwords · 03/04/2018 18:33

Also, doesn’t Loki call someone a “mewling quim” in the first “Thor”?

WunWegWunDarWun · 03/04/2018 18:33

Someone I know (different part of the country to me) had this at their child's school. They told the teacher who had no idea!

Lweji · 03/04/2018 18:33

Just tell him to Google the words. Easter Grin

penguinsandpanda · 03/04/2018 18:33

Never heard of it either but at 5 DS got asked for all words rhyming with duck. 😂

Really? That seems a bit of an overreaction to me.

weaselwords · 03/04/2018 18:34

Ha! Jinx @AlmostStace

ShowOfHands · 03/04/2018 18:40

Just asked my 6yo if he recognised the word and he rightly said that it's what Loki says in Avengers Assemble and it's a horrid term (he DOES listen when I speak apparently).

HappydaysArehere · 03/04/2018 18:44

Golly I didn’t know. My innocence has been ruined by Mumsnet .

dissapointedafternoon · 03/04/2018 18:45

What word

Fishcalledlola · 03/04/2018 18:45

Just read through the other 16 pages of nonsense words and it's the only word that appears twice, must be someone's idea of a joke!
I took it off as DS2 is in the habit of parroting back all dd's phonics, spellings and times tables purple .... Can hear him now.....
