I do kind of judge a friend of mine who openly discusses her vampire porn fanfic obsession, so maybe thats why I'm embarrassed about my sleb addiction😁. One thing I would like to add about Instagram is that just as you are anonymous, so are they. So you can end up arguing with a 15 year old girl on the comments section about her rudeness and end up feeling like her mother of course I never did this

They might use Instagram because of the filters it has which can make not so good photos look a bit better.

its basically just a load of photo streams in some ways it's nicer than Facebook because you don't have loads of adverts and pages you like stuff come up. I mainly just use it for celebrities and the odd person friend.

I don't get the point of fanfic in general, it seems odd that people write reams and reams of stuff about real life people - why not write real stories about fictional people? Then again, I am old. And 50 Shades of Grey started out as fanfic, and the author must have made a good few quid.

I find it very weird too. If I was famous and I came across some of the stuff I've read, Id feel very odd!! Same as the whole shipping thing. It's like they are projecting a fantasy on to real people, not characters. Some dont seem to be able to tell the difference!

The Larry shippers are definitely projecting a fantasy, and don't seem to be able to tell the difference. It doesn't matter to them that for every 'proof' there's a thousand things to show it isn't happening. It's like reading the ramblings of someone who is mentally unwell, ploughing through some of the Tumblr Larry stuff - quite scary and a bit sad.
The Twihards are equally worrying, although their numbers have depleted since Kirsten ruined it all by coming out

I occasionally stumble across some fanfic on tumblr though I try not to read it because it's just weird. There are definitely a few people on there who can't seem to seperate reality from what the celebrity couple fabrics they've read.

I have to confess that not only do I love the sleb twitterspats I love the tinhatting and the who follows who and the whose necklace is that. I especially love the MN larry shippers (my god not the twitter or tumblr ones) despite having given 1d approximately no thought ever, apart from the time I thought it would be an epic idea to charge 2 of my kids' MP3 players at my desk at work, then forgot and fucked off to a meeting. Turns out when they were fully charged both separately started playing 'Kiss You' at full volume, to my entirely bemused colleagues, none of whom could work out what was making the noise.

But i do think there is something fundamentally different between people who write fanfic about characters - so Sherlock and Watson, or Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy, which I almost sort of get - and the Robstens and Larries, who treat real people as if they are characters, which I honestly don't. And much as I think that RPatz and KStew and Larry Stylinson were an integral part of the marketing of Twilight and 1D respectively, I don't think it's right to make up stuff and publish it on tumblr or otherwise when it is actually real people behind it.

Much as I am curious, slow , for all those reasons and more I don't think I can face your AO3 link!

ship I agree re: the real people fanfic. I follow some Downton/Game of Thrones and Doctor Who actors on Instagram and sometimes fan pages link to their fanfiction. As the Brit acting community seems to consist of about 12 actors who are all shagging each other, the fandoms collide quite a bit. So the fanfiction projects good/bad behaviour on real people and even more weirdly, they involve their real family in horrible death scenes or drama which I find a bit distasteful.
