Exactly, Molesworth.

He died and left young children behind.

hunkermunker · 22/09/2006 12:01

I haven't read anything much re Steve Irwin on MN - only the initial thread.

I haven't posted any jokes about him, and I think it's very sad he died.

So am I allowed to find this sort of joke a bit distasteful, please?

desperateSCOUSEwife · 22/09/2006 12:01

expat I am a nosy swine and had to have a look

There were even flippant references to Steve Irwin on the Richard Hammond thread that no-one batted an eyelid at!

FrannyandZooey · 22/09/2006 12:06

I am more offended about the homophobic part

but I clicked expecting to be offended so I have got no complaints, just wondered if I was in a minority

Carmenere · 22/09/2006 12:06

I don't find these jokes offensive, so there!

morningpaper · 22/09/2006 12:08

No I didn't like the homophobic part

It's a bit 1980s

aitch71 · 22/09/2006 12:11

i thought it was kinda funny. and i'm sure (she says reaching a little...) that Richard Hammond will too, when he makes his recovery. Have you never seen Top Gear? I'd be surprised if Jeremy Clarkson didn't make the joke up.
Whether Elton will be thrilled about it is another matter. And the OP did have a dirty great warning on it... so those of an easily offended nature should perhaps have looked away.

Kaloo20 · 22/09/2006 12:18

Pah - I give you adequate warning you didn't have to read it.

It's quick off the mark and topical. If all humour was potically correct wouldn't life be boring.

DHs stupid (and now disowned) sister was sending steve irwin jokes to DH the day the news anounced the poor man had died.
Do the people who think these things up and the ones who send them on ever think how they would like it if it was about them/their loved ones?
Shall we all pop over to the brevement/miscarriage section and take the piss out of people there? No thought not!

Kaloo20 · 22/09/2006 12:48

yawn ...

it's a JOKE, a play on words

lanismum · 22/09/2006 12:51

love steve irwin and richard hammond, but dont find these jokes really offensive, just crap, im sure terri irwin could not give a shit if strangers are taking the piss, ditto richard hammonds wife, id imagine they have bigger things to think of right now.

nogoes · 22/09/2006 12:57

I don't get angry with people who make sick jokes because they are usually a bit thick and they can't help that can they?

Tutter · 22/09/2006 12:57

may be topical but it's still unfunny
