Do you believe in physics?

I don't think I do. All that bumf about electricity and nuclear things and other stuff that is invisible. I simply don't think it exists and is just made up.

My best friend once saw electrickery so I do believe in that. Not sure about newclear stuff though...

I have a feeling you've been reading too many threads about religion, but I admit, I cannot get my head around quantum physics and I really, really, do not care. I'm aware people reckon it exists but to me it's precisely as intelligible as woo-bollocks and it'd be dishonest not to acknowledge that really.

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2014 17:34

We would never know would we? Grin I am sure it's riveting if you are interested, but I don't even want it explaining to me.

I dropped Physics at GCSE as it was 'stupid' IIRC. Grin

Now Biology and Chemistry-I really believe in them. you can see it happening.

JuanPotatoTwo · 10/03/2014 17:34

I might believe in it if I understood it :)

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 10/03/2014 17:35

It's witchcraft I tells you!

JodieGarberJacob · 10/03/2014 17:35

I think you'd have to be a psychic to believe in that stuff

JuanPotatoTwo · 10/03/2014 17:35

Seem to remember spending all my physics lessons playing cards at the back of the lab.

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2014 17:35

It's too hard to understand. Best to just not go there.

HappyHippyChick · 10/03/2014 17:36

Gravity is a government conspiracy to keep the poor people down. Tru fax.

AtYourCervix · 10/03/2014 17:36

I actually believe in magic more than that weird swedish collider thing.

OP posts:
NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 10/03/2014 17:36

tis magic, all of it including the interweb..
and mobile phones and stuff

JuanPotatoTwo · 10/03/2014 17:37

"Electrickery" makes me think of Catweazle. I loved that programme.

hiddenhome · 10/03/2014 17:38

No, I had some physics lessons at secondary school, but could never get over the fact that they were permitted to teach stuff like that to school age kids Confused

Let 'em make their own minds up when they're older, I say Grin

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2014 17:39

Aah the Hadron Colander? I have heard of that.

ThatBloodyWoman · 10/03/2014 17:40

Of course not.

Couldn't stand my physics teacher and swapped to art.

At least that was a real subject.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 10/03/2014 17:40

With you there, sparkling.

I spent yonks thinking it must be fascinating if you could only understand it, but the older I get and the more polite sciency types I've had get all excited waving their hands as if they think they've explained it, the less enticing an explanation becomes.

meditrina · 10/03/2014 17:41

Motion is a myth.

And just as plausible as yogic flying.

hiddenhome · 10/03/2014 17:42

Our physics teacher brought out a wooden, lead lined box once and told us there was a radioactive source inside. He wouldn't open it and show us though......it could have been empty for all we knew Hmm

You can't take such a subject seriously when it goes to such lengths to hide the most interesting parts.

TiggyCBE · 10/03/2014 17:43

I believe in it because you can prove it. Try shaking a battery really hard until a small chunk of electric falls out.

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2014 17:43

Too much invisible stuff in Physics, that's the problem.

Quinteszilla · 10/03/2014 17:43

I dont believe in Atoms either. I cant see them, so they must not exist.

I cant see any of you lot either, so you know what that means!

Sparklingbrook · 10/03/2014 17:44
JodieGarberJacob · 10/03/2014 17:44

I'm trying to work out if I would be offended by a group of physicists trying to press leaflets on me in a shopping centre.

ohtowinthelottery · 10/03/2014 17:46

DS takes Physics very seriously. He wants to do it at degree level. I haven't got a clue what he's talking about half the time as I didn't even do O level physics. So no, I don't believe in it 'cos I don't understand it but neither do I believe in Psychics Grin

JodieGarberJacob · 10/03/2014 17:47

The theory about the Hadron Colander is so full of holes
