Hello lovelies.

Some of you are cooking some amazing meals. It would be great to see pictures for inspiration.

I've started with a picture of my pork steaks cooked in butter, chilli, garlic and ginger served with cabbage.

Protein powder & almond pancakes slathered in butter Grin

Swede fondant is delicious but takes a bit longer to soften than celeriac. I put celery leaves in when reducing the stock too, to give it more flavour, then added a bit of cream at the end to make a sauce.

Cornish Yarg, butter lettuce and red cabbage coleslaw

Cream cheese pancakes filled with leftover creamy Boursin leeks, mushrooms and salmon and biwi's red cabbage

This was delicious... Roast breast of lamb, kale, spinach, leek and cabbage, stir fried in a little butter.

Bessie123 · 12/02/2013 21:47

Cream cheese pancakes with vanilla cream and a strawberry. Oh yes, we know how to live Wink

Bessie, great photography! Your meals look delisious :)

BlackAffronted · 16/02/2013 19:45

Slow roasted lamb, celeriac fondant, leeks cooked in the fondant liquid. Very yummy!

Nippy Neep Soup

Bessie123 · 16/02/2013 19:46

Oh, I had been thinking how much more appetising than mine everyone else's look. Mine taste ok though. I am loving cooking with lots of butter and cream Grin

BlackAffronted · 16/02/2013 19:46

Braised chicken, shallots, mushroom & bacon.

Bessie123 · 16/02/2013 19:46

What's in the soup? It looks nice

BlackAffronted · 16/02/2013 19:47

I keep seeing breast of lamb, but no idea what t do with it. How long did you cook it for? Did you marinate it at all?

BlackAffronted · 16/02/2013 19:48

Soup was tunrip (Swede if your are English!), a carrot, shallots, spices & stock.

timidviper · 21/02/2013 18:56

This is my Sunday dinner.

Pork fillet slit down the middle with those small peppers stuffed with cream cheese pushed in, wrapped in prosciutto or streaky bacon and roasted. I served it with swede mash and mixed veg

Bessie123 · 21/02/2013 23:43

Ooh, peppers and cream cheese is a good idea.

This is my tuna burgers with oopsie roll and coleslaw. I had already taken a bite by the time I remembered to take a pic Blush. They are so delicious: fresh tuna whizzed in food processor with tamari, spring onions, green beans, ginger, an egg and some flaxseed, to bind. I coated them with that linwoods flax and nuts mix and fried.

Bessie123 · 21/02/2013 23:47

Ahem. It has come to my attention that blackaffronted's food looks much nicer than mine. Why does all my food look brown? I am off to get some nicer crockery and some styling help

thekitchenfairy · 24/02/2013 09:41

Hey blackaffronted breast of lamb is such an easy roast.... Traditionally it is stuffed with breadcrumbs and herbs to absorb the fat, but you really don't need to. Sainsbos basics comes rolled and trussed... Serves 4 for less than £3 so totally bargainous!!

Roast v high for 20-30 minutes until fat starts to render... Turn down low, gas 2-3, let it sit for a couple of hours.

You will need to drain fat every 30 mins or you risk a fire in your oven!

It is v rich... I like any old green veg with a bit of citrus splashed in, home made coleslaw is great as is swede and celeriac mash.

Sometimes I sit it on leeks and celery with a good sprinkle of cumin seeds.

Comfort on a plate in freezing temperatures Grin

Simon Hopkinson's very lovely recipe for breast of lamb

This is fabulous. But to make it lower in carbs:

  • use shallots instead of onion
  • halve the quantity of shallots (it makes a huge amount and I always have loads left over)

Or, you can just cook it in your slow cooker.

  • season the meat all over with salt and pepper
  • brown all over in a frying pan
  • transfer to your slow cooker - you don't need to add anything else
BlackAffronted · 07/03/2013 12:27

Bessie, I use instagram to make my photos prettier Grin

Thanks for teh lamb breast ideas, going to pick some up in my next shopping trip.
