Please come and support the MNHQ Men in their hairy Movember challenge. Can you tell who's who? (pics and EVERYTHING!)

Hello.

The menfolk at MNHQ are going all hairy to support Movember and raise money for research into prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

And we hoped you might want to join in by following their increasingly hirsute progress, lobbing them hair-follicle-stimulating virtual biscuits and maybe even donating a quid or two.

Today's the day it all sprouts starts, so we're going to post up the names of all the contenders and then post up pics of their clean-shaven chops - but not necessarily in the same order.

And then invite you to match the pic to the name, just for a bit of a larf.

OK, so the names are:

DarrenMumsnet - the one who sorts stuff out and shaved his whole beard off to take part

ShamTech - the creator of PMs, gawd luv him

Tech - the original Tech, who built MN from nuffink

GeorgeTech - the latest Tech in the Towers

PeterNotaTech - he's actually an architect but he shares an office with us

PatrickMumsnet - runs Mumsnet Academy and has Leonardo DiCaprio tendencies

Can you match the chin shot to the MNHQ Man?

Do have a go - and we'll let you know if you're right.

Another related group, for testicular cancer, is "Check'em Lads"

Don't want to steal Movember's momentum by linking, but store the name away, just in case.

I'm agog that someone would be so negative about this. I can't see how it's costing any money - and donating is clearly up to the individual, much like sponsoring your child to do something dull for the umpteenth time for a club they happen to be in.

And awareness DOES need to be raised, my younger brother has been through some very aggressive treatment this year for testicular cancer. On his 30th birthday he was recuperating from an Orchidectomy. Yes if ONE person gets early diagnosis to my mind it would be worth it, but I have a feeling that the more it's talked about, the more men will check themselves.

BerryLellow · 01/11/2012 21:04

I tell you what is fucking annoying, and that's Gillette trying to cash in on it. I had an email from them today suggesting that their latest equipment would be an excellent way to start Movember off.

zillyzilly · 01/11/2012 21:29

They almost certainly sponsor it, though, Berry, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to do that.

zillyzilly · 01/11/2012 21:30

Think about how rigorous the Olympics sponsorship deals were. Not to be messed about with.

If they're not sponsors, Gillette are going to be in big trouble, I would have thought.

Ponders · 01/11/2012 21:39

\link{http://www.talkingretail.com/products/product-news/gillette-announces-movember-partnership\you're right, zillyzally, they do}

zillyzilly · 01/11/2012 21:55

Yay!

I do love to be right.

Er...why doesn't someone go and look what the evidence is, then? There is some evidence suggesting that awareness campaigns work here.

giraffesCantGoGuisingAsZebras · 01/11/2012 22:03

Can I hire number 1 for the day please?

Oh sorry have I misunderstood?

Anyway where is our android ap? eh? eh? I am sure working on that will help the hairs grow!

Awesome work MNHQ menfolk! Love Movember for its awareness raising, fundraising worthiness but also for the hilarity and comedy potential. Last year my colleagues did it and I was most impressed with the WW2 RAF style 'chocs away' efforts and the 'eh, greeengo' Mexican mo's. Looking forward to similar here please!

I haven't a scooby which each of you are, but I like to think number 6 is standing in his head to allow gravity to help grow the mo Grin

AF - maybe your DH is secretly working at MNHQ and spying on your shenanigans?

One of DB's friends, who is mid 30s was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer - it's been a huge shock but hopefully he'll pull through.

I second the suggestion further up - can we vote for our favourite? I LOVE a good moustache.

MaureenLove · 02/11/2012 07:30

I thought tech lived in NYC.
Please tell him to tweet. We follow each other. He's silent.

Ooooh.
If 6 is indeed from Australia, tell him to come home, we need naice chins like that down here.

I can't remember what they look like.
I think 3 might beat me up if I spilt his tea though.

i'm amazed that Dazza still works at MNHQ - I would have thought he'd run from the building screaming after Hully's advances. It's what any sane person would do
