Hope this meets with your approval. It was getting a bit full on the other thread so we've extended and now need to decorate the new space.

For the walls.

Prey! A fellow Hitchhikers addict too???

We went to Douglas Adams' virtual 60th birthday party lady week at Hammersmith Apollo, it was very good. The original radio cast from Hitchhikers (minus Simon Jones, obv) is touring the country this summer. I've already booked tickets Grin

Dates/venues here

CaveMum · 18/03/2012 16:13

I meant minus Peter Jones (the Book) Blush

Simon Jones is very much still with us!

holmessweetholmes · 18/03/2012 16:24

I love Hitchhikers too, but didn't really like the film. I used to know the first chapter of the first book off by heart . Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western spiral arm of the galaxy lies a small, unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of ... Ok sorry, I'll stop now Grin.

LetUsPrey · 18/03/2012 16:25

Was a bit confused then CaveMum, although to be honest it doesn't take much.

Love Douglas Adams. Last year I found the full five book trilogy in its own case in a charity shop for £5! It was still sealed in its cellophane wrapper.

The Last Chance To See book he wrote about his adventures with Mark Carwardine is one of my most favourite books ever.

Never seen the film but I'm not expecting it to be superb. I remember the TV series from the 80s.

At the "party" John Lloyd (producer of Blackadder & QI) went through some of the items from The Meaning of Liff. I almost wet myself laughing Grin

holmes, I was much the same! I still remember that the co-ordinates for Earth were Sector ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha [nerd]

CaveMum · 18/03/2012 16:31

The film is not great, but by no means horrendous. Had Douglas Adams lived I'm sure it would have been amazing.

LetUsPrey · 18/03/2012 17:32

I feel the need to post this

And this

And this

Yum.

Ah Prey three excellent needs fulfilled I feel! Grin Not only for you, but for the rest of us too!! Well done Grin

Fluffymonster · 18/03/2012 20:00

Addict - Haha! That's a good piece of wordsmithery there!

Thanks for the heads up re Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Prey! I will try and hunt it out and watch.

And the lovely pics - the third one I love in particular, although they're all great. I may not be able to get back on here tonight as DP has claimed his right to use pc...so if not, hope everyone has had a nice Mothers Day. I didn't get Sherlock Series 2 as a present (it was a long shot anyway) - may just have to order it myself. I did however get a lovely lie-in, a card and a handmade 'sculpture' from 4yo dd that bears a passing resemblance to a glaced dog poo. Smile

'laterz'!

Fluffymonster · 18/03/2012 20:01

'glazed' rather. Although I suppose it could be glaced.

TheAddict · 18/03/2012 22:36

'Glaced' dog poo - hmm, with most four year olds I wouldn't be a bit suprised....

It's not turning into a bad month for BC stalking erm oogling erm watching, is it?

OH tells me that Starter For 10 is on too late for him as he likes an early night (hang on, which one of us actually works??) 'but sit up and watch it if you want'. Does he think I didn't intend to??

holmessweetholmes · 19/03/2012 08:00

LetUsPrey - lovely links! TheAddict - oh my dh is bound to say it's on too late. I haven't actually checked what time it's on. I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms at the moment - normally whenever dh is out for the evening I watch an episode of Sherlock, but he hasn't been out for ages! He's going away for a weekend in May, so I may have to get hold of some of the other BC stuff I haven't seen yet (Third Star etc.) and watch them then.

LetUsPrey · 19/03/2012 08:24

DH suggested watching Sherlock again last night Hmm. Given that it was only 20 minutes to MOTD2, I said obviously there wasn't time. Bit concerned that he's getting wise to the BC obsession interest so I asked "why Sherlock again?" He said "er, because it's a really good programme".

I think I'm safe. Phew Grin

Have you heard this interview?

Seraphine1 · 19/03/2012 16:59

Starter for Ten is on tv tonight on BBC2 at 1120pm :)

TheAddict · 19/03/2012 17:01

Must admit that I usually regard BC's Sherlock much as Land Caroline Lamb regarded Byron - 'Mad, bad and dangerous to know' (not that she was averse to him...) - but, having just listened (again) to BC reading Kubla Khan, I was struck by
'And all should cry: ?Beware! Beware!
His flashing eyes, his floating hair!'

Wanders off into usual PSOS fantasy...

Smophette · 19/03/2012 17:58

love the otters! has anyone seen that blog where they criticise his taste in fashion but in a fond, funny way? I think that is hilarious Grin!

Fluffymonster · 19/03/2012 18:27

Omg the otters are hilarious!

TheAddict · 19/03/2012 19:00

If anyone hasn't heard 'Ottery St Mary' on Cabin Pressure, I thoroughly recommend it: then watch 'Ottery St Sherlock' on Youtube - a work of genius.

LetUsPrey · 19/03/2012 19:14

I am halfway through Cabin Pressure Paris. Think it's ep2 of series 3. It's Birling Day again!
