More of a WWYD really, should I have told this woman I could see her knickers?

Just back from the school run, and had a rather unfortunate experience in the car park....I was walking behind a woman who obviously felt she was wearing trousers, but in fact was wearing tights. Which weren't tight. And were see through - very see through. I could see her red and white stripey knickers very clearly through them.

I was torn as to whether I should have said anything to her - there was a moment where she was on her own, with no other adults in earshot, and I could've gone over and had a quiet word in her ear. But I chickened out.

I mean, it it were me I would want to know. But I can't see how she didn't know - I always check my rear view in the mirror before I leave, but even if she doesn't then she must have seen how thin they were when she put them on, surely? I can't believe it was deliberate either, not with those pants. Or that arse.

So, WIBU to tell her if I get the opportunity again? Or should I just leave her to it?

I would have told her! It's happened to me (twice )and on both occasions I was mighty pleased someone shared. Most recently was in Tesco, when a man in a motorised chair approached me. I put on my best (and possibly rather patronising )"let's help the disabled man reach something on the top shelf" face, smiled nicely ... and he said: "Just thought you might like to know your skirt has got tucked up in your handbag"! I think I must be quite thick-skinned, mind, 'cos I was grateful rather than embarassed. Though if any of my DCs had been there, they would have been mortified! (Actually, DS (7) would have found it HILARIOUS.)

Some women know and don't care.

One lady at DS's school wears leggings that are so threadbare that I know what pattern is on her pants that day. And a short top so she hasn't even attempted to cover her arse.

I wondered this when I saw the same and the girl was wearing very visisble white knickers under tights overstreched leggings. I kept quite as I assumed she knew and wasnt worried by it

Yes, I think they must have been footless tights, but she has woolly Ugg-type boots on so I'm not sure. They were thin though!

You were right not to say anything because i think its some kind of fashion, ive seen a few women wearing those very thin legging/tights and once i was with my DH driving and we passed a woman wearing them with no knickers underneath and her arse was a spectacular wobble,my DH nearly crashed. Maybe its worn as a 'sexy, turn on ' outfit. Definitely not for the school run though.

She was wearing footless tights with a long top, but bent over to deal with her DS and the stretch made them go see through, but they looked fine standing still.

Unfortunately, we were in a public place so I couldn't have a quiet word and she left shortly after.

maybe she put them on with the intention of wearing a long coat but then forgot in the morning rush? It often looks like i only have leggings on with my coat as my tops cover my bum but arent long enough to see under coat.

'Fraid it might have been one of those women who have no pride. You know, the sort who wear hipster jeans but you can see the top of their pants. Ugh!

Seeing the top of pants and a podgy tum because of the short top being worn is enough to make me get out a sick bag.

And don't tell me I'm old fashioned. I simply have a pride in my appearance even if I'm just putting out the wheelie bin. I suppose it's because the younger a woman (and man) is, the less education she will have had - from parents or school - in how to 'do' things in public or even how to just 'do' things properly anywhere.

Lol! I know I shouldn't laugh but still. If I knew them I'd tell them and if I didn't I probably would be too scared to say anything. If you get an opportunity and there is no-one around then she might appreciate it, if she doesn't know. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again so you don't have to say anything!

A similar thing happened quite recently, this girl came walking past us in a shopping centre and her skirt was up above her underwear (it actually looked like she was just wearing just a top) but there was a huge hole in her black tights and she had white pants on, but she was walking so fast I didn't have time to stop and think to tell her. Maybe someone else had told her and that's why she was walking so fast?

I think there is a lot of difference between having your skirt caught in your Knickers and wearing those too thin leggings, mainly that one is accidental and one is deliberate, presumably.

If it were a clear case of accidental knicker flashing e.g. skirt/dress tucked into them then I would have a quiet word.

I did this at the weekend. My husband said I shouldn't have said anything, as I just drew attention to it, but I'd hate to sit around with my crotch hanging out. I feel a bit regretful now though, because maybe she thought I was trying to embarass her? It's all so awkward.

I wouldn't. It's not as if she can do anything about it then and there, and maybe she likes looking like that.

If it was something that looked inadvertant and which could be fixed on the spot (eg skirt in knickers) then I would (and I was enormously grateful the day someone told me).

I saw a woman in Sainsbury's yesterday wearing leggings. The seams had clearly been tested beyond their limits and she had several large holes down the length of her bum crack.....and no knickers on. I didnt say anything as she looked rather scarey. It was freezing yesterday how she failed to notice the frost nipping her nether regions I have no idea.
